Home » Reader question » Reader question: Experience with the quarantine rules in Thailand?
Dear readers,
Who has experience with the quarantine rules in Thailand? My question is, if I go in a prescribed hotel are you free
walk around, swim and exercise in the hotel?
Regards,
French
Unfortunately no. My wife recently returned to Thailand. She actually had to stay in the hotel room for 2 weeks. Stay alone in the room. If you are lucky you may have a balcony but not walk through the hotel. The usefulness of quarantine is no to minimal contact with other people.
Dear Patrick, that is not the case everywhere. Perhaps it is different for Thai residents, who I think stay for free in a corona hotel, than for foreigners.
My experiences so far. I arrived at my hotel in Samun Prakhan near Suvarnabhumi airport last Saturday 8th August. Mandatory to stay in the room. Had the 1st corona test on Tuesday morning, received a negative result and a wristband on Wednesday afternoon. From now on I can reserve a block time of one hour every day on the terrace by the pool (not allowed to swim) and one hour in the garden, subject to availability. So tomorrow, August 13, I will sit on the terrace for an hour in the morning and walk in the garden for an hour in the afternoon. I am not allowed to leave the hotel grounds and may only use a designated elevator. But another nice improvement.
Dear Theo,
What is the name of the hotel?
Siam Mandarina Hotel Bangplee Samutprakarn. http://www.siammandarinahotel.com
Dear Theo,
Are you looking for a hotel with Quarantine and the possibility to leave your room.
See that you can reserve 2 options per day, I'm curious how this works in practice. Hope you would like to share your findings? How did you make the reservation?
Thank you very much Frans
Dear French,
After the result of the 1st corona test in the hotel is negative, you will receive an explanation via Line where you can go and what you can and cannot do, in my hotel that is the pool terrace, but not swimming, and sky garden. You will then receive a bracelet with the text covid-negative. At the reception you can specify a time every day when you want to use the outdoor areas the next day. The 1st time you go there under supervision and return after approx. 1 hour. You can then move independently to those 2 outdoor places.
Thank you Theo for your response. Certainly sounds good the 2 hours of "freedom" a day.
Did you book directly with the hotel?
How are the payment and confirmation of your reservation going?
Is what Patrick says correct and I have already written on the blog my partner's experiences around mid-April.
Minimal contact, food in front of the door and not outside.
There was a joint app, but nothing more.
Detention in the Netherlands is much better and this is not good for socially isolating people.
Is there a list of quarantine hotels, only in Bangkok? Or also in HuaHin?
List of Quarantine hotels can be found on the site of the Thai Embassy !!! Nothing in Hua Hin!!! ranging from 30 000 THbath to 300000 Thai bath for 15 days
A Thai friend (lives in Belgium) of my wife recently returned to Thailand. Despite a negative corona test, she first had to be isolated for 14 days upon arrival in BKK. I forgot the name of the hotel but that's it. She had to stay in the room. She had access to TV and internet and was fed 3 times a day. There was also a large supply of drinks (mainly water). The 14 days are now over and she is with her family…
no you have to stay in your room!!! I'm going into Quarantine on August 29 for 15 days and I think I'll have time to write up this adventure!!!

Have a look at this; https://www.youtube.com/results?search_query=quaritne+hotels+thailand

Sorry I think Theo is right
All the people here are talking about their wives who are Thai citizens and who have their residence for nothing
What Theo is talking about are the hotels you have to pay for
And yes, the hotel must have a balcony or garden, otherwise you can whistle
But yes the women have accommodation for not eating and drinking so they can't complain and if it's not good then you just have to pay
Are couples quarantined together or separately? How is it proven that you are a married couple (male: Dutch / female: Thai)
