Dear readers,

Almost everyone knows that we have to quarantine for 14 days upon entering Thailand. My question though is, you can't go to 7-Eleven yourself for an ice cream cone, bag of chips, or cigarettes. Anyone know how this can be arranged?

Regards,

Frank

Yes very simple you just pick up the phone and call the reception. Place your order and everything will be placed in front of your door within fifteen minutes.
Payment is made when you check out. In the hotel where I stayed you had to order for a minimum of 100 Baht per time.
Alcohol was not allowed to order. Cigarettes maybe, but you have to check where you are allowed to smoke… that was certainly not allowed in my room.

It doesn't work that way in all hotels. Where I was, you could only order via a LINE app and you had a limited choice. In any case, many hotels do not allow products such as ice cream, yoghurt, cheese and fresh milk.
There will certainly be rules for this by the Thai authorities, but there is apparently no clear interpretation. I suspect that the hospitals that work with the hotels and are responsible for the health of the 'detainees' also play a role in this.

Depends from hotel to hotel. Where I stayed you could place your 7/11 order on LINE. If ordered before 10 am, it will be delivered to your room around 16 pm. You couldn't order anything on Saturday and Sunday. I ordered a bottle of pasteurized milk without any problems, this was not possible with a friend who was staying in another hotel.

If you still like to drink an alcoholic drink, I would just take it with you in your luggage. It is not checked. Perhaps upon arrival at the airport by the customs officers, but that has nothing to do with your isolation period. Cigarettes ditto.

A story is circulating on social media about a Norwegian who was caught drinking alcohol and was deported from the country for violating quarantine rules. True or not – no idea…..

Bring your own for 2 weeks. What I've heard is that especially the food is going to get boring.
So don't forget your favorite breakfast and tasty snacks. Just put everything in your suitcase.

I brought my favorite muesli with me for breakfast and only ordered fruit – that got me through the morning.
