Reader question: General tax credit

Dear readers,

It's time for the annual tax return. Now I have the following question: I lived in Thailand all year 2019. I have also been deregistered from the Netherlands.

So I do not pay social security contributions on my ABP pension, but I do pay taxes. Am I still entitled to the general tax credit on the tax component?

Regards,

Frits

I would like to add: When I fill in my tax form online, I get a message: You are entitled to a tax credit. After which I would subsequently receive a refund of 609 euros in tax credit. The tax authorities have known for many years that I live in Thailand. So is something going wrong here on the website of the tax authorities or not?

Short and sweet: No. Since 2015.

Frits, the answer is 'no'. After emigration living in Thailand you are not entitled to a tax credit. As far as the online form is concerned, have you completed the correct form, the one for non-resident taxpayer status?

    Possible wrong form.
Search for compulsory foreign tax return.

    Thank you Erik and Albert.

Didn't realize I had to fill out another form at all. It's going well now.

An M form has already been completed for the year of departure.
