Dear readers,

I would like to send a package with new cat supplies such as scratching posts and the like to an animal shelter. Does anyone know what the import duties in Thailand are like? I would find it annoying if they have to pay import duties in Thailand for a gift.

Regards,

Marian

Can't you send money better? They can make scratching posts here much cheaper than you have to send them dearly.

On the site of Thai customs you will find a rate list and that rate is used on what those things cost in Thailand and if they do not find a price, the import duty will be calculated on your purchase price plus freight and insurance. That price plus import duty will then be subject to 7 percent VAT.

I think you better send money.

I agree with the previous comment. Buy the stuff there. You do not have to pay shipping costs. A waste of your money and you support a small trader there..

My kids wanted a scratching post for the cat.
    Saw them on youtube.
So craft a scratching post yourself with the kids.
    The cat didn't look back.
Enough to scratch in the yard.
You can have the scratching post for free, probably a nice toy for apartment dwellers.
The animal shelter will be very happy with a financial contribution that they will probably not use for scratching posts.

You may also be able to have it delivered via Lazada or Ezbuy….these are mail order companies.
