Dear readers,

I have to go to the Dutch embassy in Bangkok because of my passport. Does anyone know a decent, inexpensive hotel nearby? Doesn't need luxury, it's just for one night. Must be clean and free wifi.

Please tips.

Thanks a lot.

Ricardo

Grand inn hotel I was satisfied with, then it was a 10 minute walk to the embassy ... Majestic on sukhumvit is also recommended

Almost all hotels have free wifi. So that's no point. What do you want to pay? That's the second point. There are plenty of hotels nearby. I have taken a hotel twice and in the end I will not recommend them, because they were cheap hotels, where luxury was not in the foreground. 900 baht. You then have a room, air conditioning and you can take a shower. Both were approx 20 minutes walking distance from the Embassy.
You can easily find hotels at Agoda or Bookings.com. Some hotels can be booked cheaper through such a site, others are cheaper at check-in itself. Breakfast in such a hotel is not always recommended. On my way to the Embassy I had breakfast in a very nice French-looking cafe: coffee, juice, egg and toast… unfortunately I can't remember the name. But you will see it when you walk on the main road towards the Embassy, seen from Nana on the left.
I would really look at the websites. You get a better picture than if you rely on tips here, because everyone maintains different criteria.

near sky train and market and a few stops to the abbey

    Typ.
    Go to Bookings.com
    Select date
Look up the NL embassy on the map on the website (soi Ton Son) / BTS Phloen Chit.
Circle the area and you will find a hotel in every price range.

So much easier than a reader question. Readers don't know what the questioner considers a decent hotel, let alone affordable.

Dutch embassy is near the bts, ploenchit station, less than 10 min walk. You can get a cheap hotel anywhere as long as it is near the bts. There are several cheap hotels around on nut bts station. The hotels closer to the embassy are a lot more expensive.

When I am forced to go to the Embassy there, I always book a room via the internet…..

    Nana hotel!

    Really?
    Yes really.
Is not too expensive, is reasonably clean, including breakfast buffet and free drink in the bar.
Has a swimming pool and, I thought, also a disco.

Close to Nana plaza, crazy pretty assured.

And not too far to walk to Soi Tonson.

    Really only advantages.
    Yet?

If you type soi Ton Son Bangkok on Google maps and you zoom in a bit, you will see all the hotels and eateries in the area. You then type in a hotel name on Agoda and you know everything.
The embassy is located on Witthayu Road (Wireless Road), soi Ton Son is the visiting address.
