Dear readers,

We would like to take our dog (Chihuahua) that we bought here in Thailand to the Netherlands with Etihad Airways at the end of April.

According to Etihad, the dog can be taken on the same flight as cargo.
The dog is now 3 months old and has received her first vaccinations here in Thailand (rabies, distemper, madenovirus2, parainfluenza, leptospirosis and parvovirus).

We have received a certificate of vaccination from the vet.

Does anyone know what still needs to be done to bring her into the Netherlands? Does this dog have to be carantine, does she have to be chipped?

What to do upon arrival in the Netherlands?

The only paperwork you need to do is in Thailand.

    Good luck, Arjen.

It is best to have the dog checked out. Then obtain an international certificate of health from the vet, which may not be older than 3 months. The animal must then have had the required vaccinations, but he has already had the most important ones, I read. There is no obstacle and you can just take him with you. KLM has special rules for the transport of dogs and cats. You will have to buy a special crate that fits the animal comfortably. The cage must be twice the length of the animal. The costs are not small. If you want to be sure of everything you need to take the dog to the Netherlands, please email the embassy, they know everything in that area. Good luck with it

Where in Thailand can you have your dog chipped? Any address or telephone number, and for international health proof where can you get this?
      Greetings John

John I would also request the rules from Ethiad because you get a transfer and if all goes well, a dog under 5 kilos is allowed in the cabin under your seat in a bench and then does not have to be transported. At KLM, the rules are different at EVA air. What are the rules in the country of the transfer. Maybe better take a direct flight. Yes in the Netherlands we have from April 1 that every dog must be shipped. I wish you the best of luck and hope everything works out.

Has been here before on the blog about taking a dog to Thailand and back to the Netherlands. I'm sure there are people here who can tell you that.

Have your dog chipped, then have a blood test done by the vet here. The blood is then tested in Europe for the Rabies vaccination. The chip number is also on the blood test certificate. The dog can leave three months after the blood has been tested (and the certificate has been issued). A health certificate from the vet here is also required, but only arrange this a few days before departure. And the dog/papers must be tested at customs at the airport before the flight. This can be done on weekdays and takes approximately 1,5 hours. This test is done on the other side of the airport than the departure hall. It is best to do this the day before and stay overnight in Bangkok.

Here again are the rules for bringing a dog from Thailand to the Netherlands
      What do you need?
A dog must be chipped, almost any vet can do that
He must be vaccinated against rabbies Animal passport is the same everywhere internationally.
then you will arrange the export papers.
That means 1 health certificate can be obtained through the Vet.
Then you must go to Bangkok airport with the dog and the papers at least 3 days before departure to show and approve the dog.
At the airport, follow the Free custom zone sign.
Then go to building No. 20.
Report there and wait 15 minutes.
Then the vet comes in, temperature is measured, eyes and teeth are examined.
Then a photo is taken and you have everything you need in order.
No blood test because the proof of rabies vaccination explains that enough. etc. needed.
Then you have to wait another half hour for the papers and you are completely ready to take the dog to Europe. As a trainer, I transported hundreds of dogs all over the world at the time, this has stayed with me.
I advise you to make an appointment with klm for the flight to be taken, as they specialize in animal transport in collaboration with world animal.
I wish you and your dog a pleasant journey.

Even with these vaccinations you cannot take the puppy with you yet. The vet can put a chip. There is a waiting period after the vaccination and then blood tests must be done. This also takes a while before the result is available. When you leave Thailand, you also have to visit the Veterinary Service at the Airport. He issues a health certificate. In other words, there is a lot to add and it cannot be arranged in a few weeks. Good luck

In order to be imported into the Netherlands, the dog must undergo a rabies titer test. This is only possible 6 weeks after the vaccination and must be at least 0,5. A booster vaccination of the rabies vaccination is often necessary, 3 weeks after the first rabies vaccination. The serum for the rabies titre test must be carried out at a laboratory in the Netherlands, e.g. the CID.
Hopefully this is of some use to you.

If you live in Hua Hin, we have a vet here who can arrange everything for you, you really had to have a blood test done for the dog and that must have been sent to NL, we have only brought a dog to NL and in 2 Another month will go by, KLM is the best company to transport animals…

Indeed, KLM is most suitable for this, certainly not a stopover, otherwise the journey will take too long for the animal.
The beast goes from one device to another I wouldn't want to take this risk.
And indeed if the captain approves, the dog may, under conditions of weight including bench, be brought into the cabin, we have also experienced this, we had to buy a chair for this, but we also received a lot of kilos more to take with us, this was from Amst. to Bangkok.
