Dear readers,

Me and looking for a dog trainer, or a dog club, where I can do IPO / KNPV or K9 training with my dog. Must speak English preferably.

I live in the south of Thailand, in Sichon (between Nakhon Sri Thammarat and Surat-Thani) But I am willing to travel (far).

Who knows what?

Sincerely,

Mart

There was a "farang" on Koh Samui who did that and sold guard dogs.

As a certified dog trainer, I can tell you that it is impossible to train a dog normally in Thailand. Suppose you have a dog that you want to learn to listen and obey its owner. Then you must be able to practice with it in public and that is now impossible because if you even walk on the street with a dog on a leash in Thailand, you and your dog will immediately be attacked by various so-called Soi dogs.
So don't start, as a real top trainer in the Netherlands at the time, I advise everyone against doing anything in Thailand with a dog. A Thai doesn't care about a dog, they hit it but don't know what to do with it.

I trained my small dog for obedience. I can take him everywhere he doesn't hurt anyone until they point a finger at me. Other dogs really quickly realize that it is best to leave this animal alone. If a rascal comes growling at you, you just have to shout or take a stick and show it. And about the Thai. They like dogs but don't want them in the house. So these animals are full of fleas and ticks. Difficult to teach a Thai to go to a vet. The pet shops also benefit because their prices are not bad. And about that beating on dogs. some do just a light tap others kick it. Now there are fines if you do. Are they applied or not, I don't know, but if I see someone who really beats or kicks a dog, they get the same back with a word of explanation in English. And they understand. But to keep it simple you can also contact the police and they will come and talk to the person, after which this person can follow the police to the office for further processing

There is a K9 school near Pattaya , inquire there or do a google search ; good luck .
And sorry Jan P but training is certainly possible here, I had a rotweiler myself and went well with the street dogs; she didn't care, just like I taught her.
Be careful with less imposing dogs! but a good teacher not only pays attention to his own dog, but also to others.
Markets enough where you can teach the dog social behavior

The BEST one I can recommend is Patrick Bundy here in Bangkok – advise to contact him – maybe he knows someone in your area or you can come to BK – best to send him a Whatsapp on 0818461478 but email is also possible on [email protected] – tell them I referred you. Good luck!

    Hi Mart
I live in phuket and I have brought a number of dogs to the KNPV inspection and also participated in the Brabant selection.
I also started here myself, I brought 4 malinois, 2 of which already have 2 certificates ph1 and ph2
But training a dog will take 1,5 to 2 years.
You need someone who puts on a suit and knows what he's doing.
I brought a bite suit and had a boy (from Burma) who was not afraid.
But training is done in a team, you can't see everything when your dog sends onto the field.
I was/have also been looking for people here to train dogs, but that is not easy.
With us here there are 2 fields that you can use.
I have permission from the police to train, but a gun still had to be discussed because the area is not used to shooting.
But the conclusion is you have to have a number of people with the two of you it will be difficult.
I still have a malinois for sale he bites and comes out well
    Kind regards, Rob

    Thanks for the responses,

I can more or less train myself, but for real training you need several people.

Piet: Pattaya is very far, but I'll have a look
Michiel: Nothing can be found about that farang
    Jan: Alias Louis…..
    Antoine: nice story!

    Thank you again, Mart
