Home » Reader question » Reader question: I am looking for large swimming pools in Thailand (minimum 25 meters)
Dear readers,
In March I'm going to Thailand for the second time. The exact route has not yet been determined. But I would like to swim laps. I usually train 3-4 kilometers. So I'm looking for a sports pool of at least 25 meters, where you can swim a bit. If I could get some addresses for the largest cities, that would help me a lot. On my last visit it proved very difficult to find the kind of baths I am looking for.
From what I have already found on Google, it also appears that you need some kind of health certificate to be allowed to swim in the public baths. Can I have such a certificate drawn up in Belgium or do I have to go for a check-up with a doctor in Thailand? And where can I find such a doctor, who preferably also speaks some English? I speak a few words of Thai, but not enough to have a real conversation.
Thanks in advance for the tips! 🙂
Michael
Here I have the link to images of my previous resident who, in my opinion at least, qualifies for your lap swimming. Each photo from Google is clickable to the relevant website poster of the image. We also have condos for rent.
Jomtien Beach Paradise ,close to Soi 16 and Chayapruek rd crossing with Jomtien Beacroad

You can also come and swim with me in the northeast of Thailand. In the town of That Phanom, located between Nakhon Phanom and Mukdahan on the Mekong River. My pool is 20 meters long and 10 meters wide. Depth varying from 1.20 to 2.00 meters. I swim 100 lengths every day. The length is not a problem, just swimming a few extra lengths.
I also have a possible room for rent. Just think about it. Gr Alberto
In Chiang Mai there is the 700-Year Anniversary Stadium, with a 50 meter competition pool.
This swimming pool is located on the outskirts of Chiang Mai and has Olympic dimensions. It's never very busy and you're sure to find other fans trying to beat their personal bests. The pool is located on Chiangmailand Road, just off 1141 Mahidol Road Hiway. Excellent accommodation.
Located in Phuket's Paring beach, Patong features 2 25-metre swimming pools. It is also a very good hotel. Good luck.
Hello Michael, in Nakhonrarchasima they have a 50 meter competition pool outside in the shopping mall and for the children there is a section that resembles center parks with slides, waterfalls, etc. I always like to go swimming here never crowded and everything is in tip top order. (Psik never needed a certificate or statement to go swimming here or anywhere else.)
Sorry for the typo. Patong resort is of course located in Patong beach in Phuket.
Hey Alberto, what is your guesthouse/homestay/… called? I will probably pass there early next year by bike. Thank you in advance!
It's a local swimming pool. I have a single room and/or a house for rent there. The name is สระว่ายน้ําแม่โขงพาราไดซ์ mekong paradise pool. Just look at Facebook. Gr Alberto
The newly completed "resort" Laguna Beach 2 in Jomtien near Pattaya, has Olympic dimensions.
I also happen to have a studio for rent there, who knows, it might be of use to you?
you can reach me at [email protected]
Well,
In LakSi Bangkok a large swimming pool of a swimming club everyone can swim costs 50 Bhat
Just look at Google map;
Address; Laks Si Bangkok (near Don Muang airport)
Soi Chunchon Bang Khem
Go swimming there yourself every week.
Nice pool, bit neglected.
Greetings Gerrit
sports fields in Khon Kaen 60 meters long and 30 meters wide, think the largest swimming pool in Thailand
In Burriram you will find a 50 meter swimming pool.
Ambassador hotel in Bangkok, at least 20 m
Chiang Rai, Rajchapat University. 50 meter competition pool. entrance 60 bath.
Also Mae Faluang University, north of Ch. Rai. Also 50 meter competition pool, entrance same same.
On Koh Chang I found the swimming pool at Amari Emerald Cove ideal for laps: 30m+ and relatively cold water, so no sweating and few people. I didn't stay at that hotel, but I went there twice to “pool crash”. 😉 The “Olympic” pool at the Koh Chang Resortel is dilapidated and dirty.
In Bangkok, many residential towers have a suitable swimming pool, often better, larger and quieter than in hotels. On Airbnb you can ask the landlord of a condo about this before booking.
Hi Michael
I swim in lumpini park 25 mtr bath.
Yes you need a medical certificate from a Thai doctor. Most expensive is 800 bath in bnh hospital. But a local small doctor's post can give you that too. Furthermore, once 40 bath per year and you can swim every day. Bathing cap is mandatory. You can also use the gym. Closed on Monday for cleaning. This is the cheapest option I've found so far.
Success.
Rienie van de Kamp
Sakon Nakhon. Rajabhat university. Olympic pool 50 meters and ten lanes, plus pool 25 meters 6 lanes, plus instruction pool. Entrance 60 baht, plus sixties 40 baht. During the school year there is room to swim undisturbed.
Well, your route is not fixed.
But I think the swimming pool of the Napalai hotel in Udon Thani will meet your needs.
The swimming pool in The Mall in Nakhon Ratchasima (Khorat) is also satisfactory. A bathing cap is mandatory here and can be rented for 10 Baht.
Have a nice holiday
Yes, it is true that in swimming pools of the "govmt" you must have a kind of health certificate. For private not necessarily. From a Thai doctor. Don't worry - they all speak enough English, or else if they have really complicated questions, they'll call a colleague (like everyone else does with that problem) and they'll know what it's for. Can't you just figure that out yourself? Will hardly mean anything and will certainly cost you less than 500 bt. For very cheap you go to a govmt.hospital - keep in mind that you have to wait a long time.
