Reader question: Golden triangle and Visa run

Dear readers,

I have been reading Thailandblog.nl for about three years now and now I have a question myself, but first of all I would like to congratulate and thank all the people who contribute to that great Thailand blog for all the useful information, really great!

I stay in Udon Thani and have to cross the border every three months, the easiest is a trip of about 50 km to Laos etc…

Now I would have liked to go to Chiang Rai (by car or plane, I'll figure that out myself) to visit the golden triangle there and then cross the border there to get my stamp.

Does anyone have experience to which country is best for me? I was thinking Myanmar? Is there a border crossing where to obtain the desired stamp for an extension of three months Thailand?

What documents do I need and how do I get there in the easiest way?

Thanks in advance,

René

Mae Sai north of Chiang Rai, just across the bridge. Same procedure as with Nong Khai. Visa to Myanmar is 500 baht.

Transition Nong Khai is Laos… Mae sai is Myanmar… not the same….

Rene, read today that from August 12, no fish run is possible anymore. see link below:

Hope you don't have to make a wasted trip.

@ Ria Gilyamse The visa runs, which have been restricted, apply to people who do not have a visa, cross the border in 1 day and return and again receive a visa-exemption (visa exemption) of 15 days (by land) or 30 days (by the air). This improper use has been put to an end. Those who have a visa with an obligation to leave the country every 90 days will not be affected. After all, they have a visa and do not use the visa-exemption scheme.

      Ria,
After some searching on the internet what Dick writes is correct, thanks for the response, I would have made a futile trip for the same.
