Dear readers,

I am currently on holiday in Thailand with my husband. For a long time I worked for the judiciary in the Netherlands. I would like to visit the prison in Bangkok, but would like to visit Bjorn (as Mr. is mentioned in the November 11 story) so that it is a targeted visit and I think it would be nice for him to have a visit now and then. to get?

Unless he doesn't want to, then of course we won't go.

Thanks in advance for taking the time to respond to my request,

Warm regards,

Ellen

I once visited a Belgian prisoner in the Klong Prems men jail…with a “letter of recommendation” from the embassy.

The man will be happy with visitors, especially if some food and sanitary items are brought.
    There are rules for that.
Usually you have to buy that in the prison shop, because too many illegal things were smuggled into the prison with that food that people prepared themselves.
You will need to know a full name.

You will not enter the prison itself, by the way.
You can't get past the contact area.

    Hi Ellen
    that's a nice idea
especially for the one who is in prison
I myself visited the prison in Surin. (My Thai wife's nephew was there and it was his birthday that day)
I think you can just ask at the prison for the one you want to visit
if the set-up is the same as in Surin you can also buy food outside and have it given to him
    Regards, Wilbert

    Dear Ellen,
I don't know Bjorn, but I do know Lian Yang who has been in the Bang Kwang for 15 years.
He is always happy with visitors. If you are interested, please contact me and I will give you further information. He is in building 6 and visiting days are Tuesday and Thursday. It is best to be there on time around 9 am.

    Regards,
    Eric

Years ago we also visited a prison, you can't go there every day and because the men's prison was not open that day, we went to visit the women's prison.
Jose Zonneveld. Bring your passport and possibly food you can buy there, booklets were allowed then
but you can't give them yourself. We were not allowed in and had to talk to a telephone, she was behind thick glass and bars, then a corridor of 1.5 meters and again thick glass with bars, so you can only see them but not touch them. We didn't know them at all, but she still enjoyed having a visit.
    Highly recommended.

    Greetings Hank

Very good initiative Ellen, people like you make the world much better.

I'm still waiting for an answer about Bjorn's nationality. I have an email ready for the embassy, with my outrage, as a human being, that they are not taking steps to help Bjorn during this difficult period. I will not comment on guilt or innocence, but the embassy can/must always help bridge the period in prison.

The original story suggests that he is Dutch. I'll wait a few more days for confirmation. If no confirmation, I will send the email to the Dutch embassy.

    Best regards,

    Eddy
