Dear readers,

I want to warn people in Phuket about the immigration in Phukettown. We were at immigration on Wednesday to extend the ed visa. We were sent back because her visa was valid until Monday, they thought they were too busy. And we had to come back on Monday. Well, then it's definitely not busy?

While we know that it takes a few days before you get your passport back. Last time we had to pay an overstay fine, while we were on time. They said: should you have just come a few days earlier. And now we come a few days early and we are sent back and we have to come again on Monday.

I am now sure we have to pay again, those scammers know that you have nowhere to go. So who knows a solution to stay out of the clutches of those money wolves?

When will it finally sink into your farang heads?
the ONLY right you have in Thailand is to get rid of as much money as quickly as possible for as little return as possible. Almost all Thais participate in this, and especially the government "servants". In no way do they follow the NL "microgram justice" to the citizen. Nothing but a big farang looting program.
The only reason that this is deviated from is if you can hit back, for example because of slightly better contacts (so handful of change that way), company via BOI promotion, etc.

You must have forgotten that loose insert (1.000 THB banknote)

Well...it's no different...it's love it or leave it...it's that simple...when I go there I'll put on my party hat and keep smiling...being or getting angry only has negative effects...

Don't you have to pull a number from the machine there. In hua hin it is nl, so even if it is busy you go as early as possible in the morning and then just wait your turn.

Incidentally, the immigration in Hua Hin also tried to extort 20.000 thb from me by sending me away every time because I didn't have the papers in order. Last time he wanted a copy ID from the landlord.?? Had never experienced that. By the way, he asked my girlfriend outright, pay 20.000,00 thb and I'll make it right.

Actually, you should bring a hidden camera and put it on you tube. Having to tell the story on you tube in English without a camera if necessary. They are terrifying for negative publicity, so at least you can hit back.

With a smile on your face you kindly say “Mai pen rai', you ask for proof that you have been there, you enjoy the weekend, beer, glass of wine, and you go back on Monday.

    Life can be so simple.

I absolutely recognize the immigration service in Mukdahan in this. Great service and friendly employees. No complain at all. There is also a notice to the immigration service where you can complain. A telephone number is available for this. There is also the TAT authorities who stand up for the Farang if abused by government officials.

A perhaps unsympathetic but effective action is to approach a high military authority in the company of a Thai partner. I have had success with this in a dispute with the government.

    Just out of interest.

I assume you mean her term of stay ends on Monday and not her visa, and that the “ED visa” was a “Single entry”.

There is also an “ED visa” with “Multiple entry”. I hear they are not always easy to obtain, at least not in the region.
However, if you can obtain this, you do not need to go to immigration for an extension.
You will then be stuck with “border runs” every 90 days, of course.
But you ask “How do I stay out of the clutches of the money wolves at Phuket immigration”.
    Well that is an option.

I am also curious how much "overstay" fine you actually had to pay (last time)
Have you not received a receipt for your passport with a date or are you just leaving your passport at immigration for a few days?

If you have to pay an "overstay" fine, this normally means that your period of stay has expired. An extension is then even ruled out.

There is only one (legal) possibility to obtain an extension if your period of residence has already expired, and that is if your period of residence expires on a day when immigration is closed. You may then still apply for an extension on the next working day.
Suppose your extension expires on a Saturday, but your immigration office is closed in the WE and Monday also happens to be a public holiday so they are also closed. In that case, you can still apply for your extension on Tuesday. You will still receive your extension and without an “overstay” penalty. Please note. In this case only on Tuesdays. You are late on Wednesday. You are then officially in overstay. You will then have to leave the country.
I have to disappoint those who are already calculating that they could gain days with this. The extension takes effect immediately after the old extension. So you don't gain anything from it.

Meanwhile it is Tuesday. How did it go anyway?

      Hi Ronnyja
Indeed her stay period was until Monday.
But only if you can hand in your papers.
And then you can collect your passport after 4 days, then you pay for 4 days, protesting does not help.
Because they say dead nice you should have come sooner.
If you come 4 days earlier, they say you're too early, come back on Monday.
And if you say something about that you will just be sent away.
I also went to the tourist police to say, that's just the way it is unfortunately.
And then my girlfriend is also Philippine, which also works against it.
Because she has to do a test on the spot and the ladies of Russia only had to say sabade ka.
And then it was just a good laugh.
I know they hate the philippines and philippines.
They are returned for all sorts of reasons.
I also heard the phillippines (n) all complain.
And I can really understand that because they don't want to pay anything under the table.
      Gr Rob

I absolutely do not recognize myself in Hansk's message.
The emigration office in Hua Hin deals absolutely correctly with the Farangs and is extremely friendly.
Years yes years ago it was something different but in recent years it is well organized and perfect..
indeed you pull a number and just wait your turn and you will be served courteously…
You just pay what you have to pay and there are certainly no special prices for Farangs here in Hua Hin.
So I think it's a monkey story from hansk...

      Hello Jasmine,

Really not a sandwich monkey story, unfortunately it really happens. Incidentally, I have also been helped correctly in the past.

Make a report to the anti-corruption office of the government in Bangkok, this may also be possible in writing or by email. If they don't get food from those kinds of authorities, they can't do anything about it.

    This is Phuket,
customize your own or grab your bag!

Lived full-time for over 6 years from my (34 years to 40 years) last 2 years traveling up and down so always a visa problem, put 500 bath in passport for stamp in passport, 1000 bath for new visa and a big smile, does wonders , goes straight into your breast pocket or desk drawer and you 're done much faster . Yes, it is not the Netherlands where a civil servant is a civil servant, you have to buy functions within the immigration office, so if you want to hand out stamps there, you must first invest and yes, something must come back, and what could be easier than wondering that to make it pay 🙂

I have no bad experiences with immigration Jomtien Soi 5, always friendly, sometimes some extra copies and different from last year, in the past sometimes no receipt for the Ades certificates (2 at the time), but as long as I don't need that receipt in a visible way, I will It is not a concern for me, and I am happy to pay the 200 baht that the receptionist asks for a life certificate pension stamp, compared to the 300 for the same doctor's certificate, also cheaper than a trip to the BKK embassy!

Well, I don't have enough fortune to live in beautiful Phuket..., oh, see it as a little rich man's appraisal and enjoy your snow-white beaches, I would say...

Sometimes I also pay 200 bath for a life certificate (must have it every month) at the guy at the reception!!! Only if I see a known person...I don't pay anything.
But don't want to cause any problems.
I did that once at the reception, a Thai and a farang together also asked for 1 bath and I asked for a receipt... that was not possible hahahahah, I did not pay but I did receive a warning from the farang... go to the embassy next time. you pay 200!
