Reader Question: Transfer money to Thailand via Pay Pal
Dear readers,
Does anyone have experience transferring funds to a Thai bank account via PayPal?
My Belgian bank account is linked to my Pay Pal account, but my wife's Thai bank account at Kasikorn Bank apparently cannot be linked to this payment system.
We keep getting an error message that the credit card provider (Visa at Kasikorn, needed to open her Pay Pal account) refuses these transactions.
Thanks for your tips.
Yours faithfully,
Henk from Belgium
why not ask the right question?
Transferring money to a Thai account with paypal is of course no problem.
But transferring money from a Thai account with visa (which visa, debit or credit?) is. So that's the question! Ask the question that is correct and with the right data.
And why not just inquire with paypal?
I think you should go to Paypal Thailand and link the Thai account to it. You may have tried this, but your Thai Visa card is not a real or international credit card. Then that won't work. You will need an international requirement. However, to only transfer money via paypall, you do not need to have an extra paypall account. No credit card either. You need the bank details. That should be enough.
I think the question was asked correctly.. I myself had the same question....thought the bank account you want to send to must be linked to paypal.
Hank,
Why not buy a prepaid credit card at the post office in Belgium, you can send the card (empty) to Thailand and after receiving it there you can put money on it that is immediately available in Thailand.
is a good tip that I didn't know yet, what costs / exchange rate is applied here?
I have a Skrill card (from England). Costs are € 10 per year for the card and approximately € 2 per withdrawal (rate conversion is also involved). You can also put the card in the name of someone else so that they will not have any problems if they want to make a payment at an office. You can link your bank and or other credit card to it, which can also be easy and keep track of everything online.
why not a normal bank transfer??? paypal costs money
Your question is clear:
Paypal charges approximately between 1,5% and 3.4% in NL and Europe in transaction costs.
Also depends on whether you act as a private individual or as a business.
Here is a link regarding Kasikornbank and Paypal:

And this link might also help you. Should work, I thought

success
is not that easy did it once, they can't deposit it into the account number.
Nowadays I do with World Remit, it is on the bill with 1 day, it costs a bit but super service
Willem
Visited the world Remit website….Thailand is not in the country list…
Dear Henk,
The cheapest way is to open a bank account with Argenta (account opening and deposits in Thailand are completely free) or do you already have one?
You fill in a "non-European transfer" form (very simple) and then hand it in to your Argenta agency.
You do have to ask your wife for the Kasikornbank swift code.
And 2 to 3 days later it is on the account in Thailand.
I've been doing this for almost 5 years and never had any problems.
T,is simple and free and why make it difficult?
Greetings, Gino.
Dear Croes
I had never heard of Agenta .. says more about me than Agenta of course ... are you with the Belgian or Dutch Agenta?
I googled them and they are mainly savings banks and free transfers and receipts they say only for Europe for free .. do other banks also use the SEPA system ...
My current bank Abnamro always charges between 25 and 30 euros for transferring an amount to my Thai Kasikornbank
So I am very interested in your further information
Groet
Piet
Dear,
Argenta Belgium is indeed free! The only difference with your situation is that I live in Thailand and I CANNOT make a transfer to my Thai bank from Thailand! My brother in Belgium (has power of attorney) makes a transfer on the spot and that does not cause any problems!
Sincerely,
Jan
I also always use Argenta to transfer money from my Belgian account to my Thai account ( SCB ). FREECH at Argenta. You only pay a small amount at an "intermediate bank" as always with other banks. I fill in the necessary forms in advance with a blue pen (black is not accepted as this can be a copy). My sister hands it in to Argenta and: no problem at all.
Lung addie
I just transferred money by email (via paypall) to someone in Thailand. My acquaintance did not have a paypal account. She will then receive a message from paypall to open an account. She did and there was her money. Free of charge in euros.
She linked her Kasikorn bank account and transferred the money to her account. Then of course she has to use the exchange rate of Kasikorn. No further costs.
Easy!!
do not do via Pay Pal but simply via western Union, much cheaper and reliable
