Is a visa run at Nong Khai to Laos easy?

Dear readers,

Like many in Thailand, I have to cross the border every three months to extend my NI visa O by three months. Now I want to do that next month in Laos. Cross the border at Nong Khai, just past customs and Kees is ready.

However, I heard today that it is a bit more complicated there. First by taxi over the bridge for 30 dollars, then drop off stuff, stay at least one night and then pick up your pass again and then pay again, I assume. I just don't know how much.

Can someone tell me if that is indeed the case?

Thanks in advance.

Regards,

Adri

    Aren't you confusing two things?

You want to enter and exit with a valid visa for the next 90 days. To the bridge, out of Thailand, with a bus to the other side (costs 20 b as far as I know), buy a Laos visa there (take passport photo with you) and as far as I know that costs 1.600 baht or xx dollars, with that visa in your passport to passport control, stamps and more stamps, then past customs and then you are in Laos after another table. Look to the left: the tax-free shops in front of you. Then the way back; Out of Laos, into the bus, over the bridge, into Thailand, fill in the entry card, pass passport control and customs and then you are in Thailand. I did a dozen times when I didn't have a retirement extension yet.

By the way, you can also go by train from Nongkhai Station.

What you mean is to apply for a new visa for Thailand in Laos. Then you have to go to Vientiane (30 km), take a broker or stand in line for hours yourself, take a hotel, and get or pick up your pass the next day. But that is not a visa run or just in and out. That is buying a visa for Thailand and you already have that. Right?

If you only extend 3 months that is possible in 2 places in Laos by bus Thailand Laos 50 baht there and
    VISA Laos 35 euros
At Burma you can walk and then you pay Burma 10 usd

    Where do you live .

You can also book a cheap flight ticket to a country that does not require a visa, Hong Kong

Nowhere do you have to stay overnight, that is only if you want to make a visa
Even then with a 2500 baht bribe you will get it back in the afternoon

Good luck but don't think too much but do

Laos (Savannakhet) Does not accept Euro . Well usd 35.00 or Bath 1.500 or Lao kip. But certainly not euros. The cheapest is to pay usd. assume the same for nongkai

It costs 35 dollars in the afternoon 1 dollar extra but is much cheaper than paying in thai bath ? For
laos is a euro the same as a dollar in many restaurants do you see euro dollar the same price in vitiane ?

If I read correctly, this is a visa run, out of Thailand to Laos and the U-turn back for the next 90 days.
As Eric explained it, it is completely correct. When I went it was busy with tourists, minibuses full and bus over the bridge for 20 Baht also full.
A long queue at the passport controls….
But not a problem in itself and as Eric explained it.

Did this run last year. In Nong Khai just before the bridge I went to an office and she arranged it for me. My girlfriend and I drove to the bridge with him in the car. We could just sit there and cross the bridge after a few minutes. In Laos he told me which counter to go to and after a few minutes we were back in his car. All together it took 20 minutes and cost me 500 baht. Didn't have to do anything at all. Next week I have to go again and do it this way again.

If I understand correctly Willy, you saved the 1600 Baht that the visa for Laos costs, and instead paid 500 Baht to the man who 'arranged' it for you. Did you have to pass the passport controls yourself and alone? with or without visa for Laos?

Of course I also had to pay the 1600 bath but everything else was arranged by him. At the checkpoint at the bridge we just stayed in the car, even when we returned.

    Hallo,
Coincidentally, I made the trip yesterday. By minibus from Udon Thani to the border. 50 baths. Got a stamp from Thailand at the border. Then cross the bridge with a big bus. 15 baths. At the Laos border go to the visa on arrival counter. Counter no. 1 Receiving and completing papers. Hand in papers and passport at the same counter. Pay 35 NEW dollars. Because they are very difficult about tears and stains on the used banknotes. 1500 bath also possible. Collect your passport at the next counter. Stamped and all. Back past the checkpoint to stamp out. Bus over the bridge 2000 kip or 20 bath. Receive the arrival form from the man as stated. Fill it out and queue at passport control.
    Done!

Greetings and good luck Pe Pe.
