Transfer Euros from Thailand to the Netherlands
A reader would like to know how he can transfer an amount of 270 euros from Thailand to an account at the Rabobank in the Netherlands.
His attempt to simply do that through the Kasikorn Bank failed, the bank was unable or unwilling to cooperate.
What is the solution?
Simply open a Paypal for both and link it to your bank account.
Goes on simple and easy. Kasikorn can also certainly transfer this. However, you must have the correct data from the rabo. You can even do it yourself with internet banking.
But Paypal fast and cheap.
Dear Kees
Internet banking you can only transfer money within Thailand, you can forget about it outside. You can transfer euros with western union.
the BangkokBank is happy to do this against payment of euro33 transfer costs
If you do not have knowledge of a Dutch bank account that can transfer it for you, you can pay it back in THB. transfer for free and Everyone is happy.
Assuming I read correctly, he has 270 Euros.
If he lives in Changmai or wants to come to Changmai, I am quite willing to help him.
My plan.
We sit somewhere, where there is wifi internet.
I'm bringing my laptop.
Have the ABNAMRO bank yourself, transfer the money to you, bank.
Usually because you transfer money from bank to bank in the Netherlands, you receive it within 1 hour and I can immediately check whether the money has been transferred to you.
As soon as the money comes in, you give me that 270 Euro.
Only on this condition.
Hans
just change banks and switch to Bangkok Bank. It is guaranteed to succeed there. Today I had my wife close her account with Kasikorn and open a new one with Bangkok Bank. Kasikorn acted very complicated and cumbersome when she accidentally left her bank card in ATM. So it is apparently a bank where customer care is not very important.
Use Transferwise, fast and low cost
with this link even 1x free.https://transferwise.com/a/williamv22
Not from Thailand. Does not work. Only in
Correct. Transferwise is very fast and a good rate and low cost, I also have excellent experiences with this. Many times cheaper than the regular banks.
With Transferwise you can transfer money TO Thailand, but not OUT of Thailand ... so 1-way traffic ...
You can transfer money in different ways with Transferwise
From your different credit in whatever currency you have at that time
Then be converted to euros in the most favorable exchange rate I have experienced, with very low commission.
Euro to euro, of course not, then you pay something like 3-5 euros to the Netherlands

Giving in baht to a NLer in Thailand, who transfers the equivalent in euros from his Dutch bank account to that reader's Rabo account. No transfer costs, favorable exchange rate… simple right?
With Transferwise you have a free Debit card that you can also use as a credit card.
You can hold money in different currencies and let people transfer money to it in different currencies. Bank account numbers as if you had a local bank account.
A possible solution is to transfer the amount in THB to someone who has both a Thai and Dutch account (with balance) (and wants to cooperate). A transfers THB worth 270 euros to B's Thai account, B transfers the 270 euros from the Dutch account to the Rabobank. Of course you have to be able to trust each other.
Western Union
Transferwise. It's even cheaper too.
Can't from Thailand
Identically had the same problem, with the same Kasikorn Bank, last week. A Dutch friend wanted to transfer an amount from his Thai Kasikorn account to his own account in the Netherlands.
Could NOT, he could only do this from Bangkok from HQ. Strange but true!!!
Solution:
- via Western Union would be possible, but not to himself because he is here and can therefore not receive it himself in the Netherlands. So he had to send it to someone else this way. Western Union can be found in almost every post office in Thailand. So if it doesn't have to go to himself, it can be done this way. There are costs associated with this.
-we solved this problem by: I transferred, via pc banking, the amount from my Belgian bank account to his Dutch account and that is free of charge as it is a European transfer. Here, in Thailand, he paid me back the transferred amount in THB, which he simply took from his Thai account.
Hopefully this is helpful to you.
A year ago I transferred 8 tons of baht to the ING in NL from Kasikorn Nongkhai and no problem! But I was once told there that not every Kasikorn branch wants to do that, only those with a lot of international trade and Nongkhai is the provincial capital and border town. That could be the key.
Incidentally, I consider the bank costs disproportionately high given the small amount. The tip others give (actually trade) is much cheaper.
Hi, You can try through an app Transferwise. I myself often transfer amounts to Thailand and I am on the rack with the beneficiary within 2 days.
Simply possible with the Kbank app. Costs 250 thb
With Transferwise you cannot transfer money from Thailand to the Netherlands, but you can transfer money the other way around
Hans
Try with Western Union or Transferwise.
He contacted me and he insisted on having it arranged on Sunday.
I could arrange it on Monday, but that was too late.
So I think that's settled.
Gr Rob
Otherwise try the bank or Ayuthaya de Krungsribank yellow color, this bank also has western union in its branches.
The Kasikorn was once my first bank in Thailand in the distant past, but I soon left little service for foreigners and difficult to do everywhere.
Jan Beute.
I have just logged into the internet banking website of the krungsri bank.
there I chose the option -> international fund transfer -> SWIFT -> transfer currency EURO -> Country of Beneficiary THE NETHERLANDS -> Beneficiary Bank's Name -> Transfer Amount
I then entered a fictitious amount (100 euros)
I immediately saw the exchange rate
330 baht fee was added
the total rate came into view
then I had the option to click through to password/confirmation but I dropped out.
I suspect that it is possible via krungsri
Oh yeah
there was still the share / our option for the one who has to cough up the transfer costs.
kasikorn app, put it on the smart phone, then you can just transfer.
I have been referred to Kasikornbank Pattaya Head Office by Kasikornbank Jomtien.
I got the following explanation there:
YOU CAN ONLY TRANSFER THE NUMBER OF EUROS TO YOUR ING BANK YOU HAVE EVER BEEN INTO THAILAND.
And the evidence for this must be proven by means of a bank statement, the clear entry of pension every month via your Thai save account booklet is not sufficient.
Statement printout was done free and quickly by the employee, now have 4 months of pension printouts and will have the last months of July, Aug and September printed out in three months.
So I can then (if all goes well) repay 7 months of pension.
I'm curious about the transfer costs, don't know yet whether I should come with euros or baths, exchange rate Kasikorn much higher than TT exchange offices.
I will also investigate Westerune and TransferWise.
This exchange of my pension back and forth obviously means a loss of money, but because of daughter's inheritance I would like to have my money in the ING bank, instead of my daughter having to go to court here in Thailand.
I may have a Thai Last Will, but then again. I understand 3 months waiting time and help lawyer.
Cornelius H.
Cornelis H, you have a Thai will you write. Your money is on the ING in NL, your daughter is going to inherit from you, how does she get the money? The ING will want to see a will, translated, legalized, etc, and does the ING agree to this now that Thailand has no CTR, Central Wills Register, and there can never be certainty whether that will is your last?
Oh, your daughter has a warrant? But don't authorizations expire upon death? If the ING knows that you are dead, it will refuse admission.
No, this is not as simple as people sometimes say…. The estate of a Dutchman who died in Thailand has not yet been settled by bank balances as you describe after THREE years.
Do you have a Thai Bank account? Until the end of August there is an offer at Kasikorn, if you have the app you can transfer money to the Netherlands for free with your mobile phone. I did it myself this month, you can choose which currency on that app. You must download the app and have it activated by the bank. Another choices are:
MoneyGram through the Government Savings Bank , it seems to be quite cheap,
or if you have a credit card you can also transfer money online via Paypal, as long as the person who is going to receive it also has a Paypal account,
or Western Union, is a bit more expensive, but the money arrives immediately..Krungsri has Western Union.I hope one of these options works.
