Dear readers,

I would like to know if there are readers who have experience booking airline tickets to Thailand via Gate1? They offer very cheap airline tickets that you cannot even book with the airline or anywhere else.

They are not affiliated with the ANVR or the SGR. So it's a gamble I guess.

It's a middleman that you get when you visit the Momondo site, which is a comparison site.

Yours faithfully,

Ria

No experience with this, but I would be very careful (reluctant) to buy from travel agencies that are not ANVR or SGR. For flight tickets, SGR is useless, because SGR does not reimburse separate flight tickets (only “package travel”, but a flight + 1 night hotel booked at the same time at the same travel agency is a “package travel”).

I would avoid online travel agencies like Tripair like the plague; Based in Greece (!) and only a Dutch website. Then try to be right if something goes wrong. And there are still a few internet travel agencies with questionable business addresses (Cyprus and Malta...). Just click on “contact” on their site and find their address.

On the other hand: Ebookers, 333travel, BMair, for example, are reliable, but just as expensive as booking directly with the airline. Preferably book with the airline itself! Then you eliminate intermediate risks. The disadvantage is that if you make complex trips or need help, you are on your own and cannot use the expertise of a travel agency. But I don't think that should be a problem with just one ticket.

    Don't start ANVR and SGR.

  3. Jeroen says up

ANVR and SGR offer guarantees for package trips from tour operators, unfortunately not for individual airline tickets. Given these regulations, Gate1.nl is not affiliated with these organizations.

TIX is affiliated with IATA, The International Air Transport Association. This organization is the umbrella organization in aviation, representing 240 airlines, representing 84% of the total air traffic. As an airline ticket provider, you must be affiliated with IATA in order to be able to issue airline tickets for travelers. With this, we as an airline ticket provider ensure the certainty of the issue of valid airline tickets.

Would you like to read the website better from now on?

like standing up for yourself. As a ticket provider, however, you do not necessarily have to be affiliated with IATA. You can also offer non-affiliated tickets through brokers who usually offer the same price as the airline itself or cheaper. My late wife had a non-IATA travel agency for 27 years and sold airline tickets in this way. She was affiliated with the Travel Guarantee Fund and the Travel Disputes Committee, even when this was not yet mandatory in Belgium.

    Hi Ria,
Gate 1 is part of Tix.nl. We have already booked several tickets here and have never had any problems. If you also book a ticket here, payment is made via Tix.nl. They fall into the same category as cheaptickets, vliegwinkel.nl, etc. etc. I say no problem, if you see a nice and affordable ticket, I would book it.

Gate1.nl is not a party to the agreement you conclude, so that they are not affiliated with SGR and the like is irrelevant.
Gate1.nl is a trade name or subsidiary of Tix.nl with the same registration number at the Chamber of Commerce, 55721095.
Which tickets do they offer that I can't book anywhere else? Do you have a concrete example?

I also discovered Gate1 last week via skyscanner.
They are offering EVA tickets for only 519 euros for the second half of 2015 and also for 2016.
If you only buy plane tickets, the risk doesn't seem that big to me.
Moreover, as mentioned, they fall under Tix.nl.

Don't be afraid just book Ria.

      We fly with Eva air.

    Has anyone tried via ticketspy?
You can fly very cheaply via an “open jaw”.

    • Bjorn says up

Booked 2 times Etihad open jaw. out from Ams, back to Dusseldorf. Fine and nice and cheap at the time.

Just received this email from Gate1 so there is no problem at all to book a ticket here.

    Thanks for your email.
Gate1.nl is indeed part of Tix.nl, with one office.
We can assure you that your trip is in good hands.
If you have any further questions about your booking, please let us know.

We hope to have informed you sufficiently with this.

with the major carriers such as Emirates -Evva no problem with booking and payment.

Thank you very much for all the responses and suggestions, partly because of this we have just booked 2 tickets for departure at the end of this year and back at the end of February. And that for the price of 536 euros each with EVA Air.
We planned to wait for the price war of the airline tickets, but we think that we really cannot get away cheaper for a 2-month ticket.
It remains exciting, although we have the confirmation, but nowhere else (not even on the airlines' site) can you book with a return date at the end of February.
Thanks again for all the tips.

Last October I had booked ticketspy 2 open jaw tickets from Schiphol to Bangkok and back to Dusseldorf. 4 weeks. Just got back great

    • richard says up

I've flown with Etihad twice through an open jaw, never again. The additional cost is currently only 100 euros compared to a direct EVA flight. In addition, the legroom
with the open jaw flights considerably less and the flight takes a lot longer. Good timing
gives a great flight with EVA.

      • Bjorn says up

Have also done the Dusseldorf route twice with Etihad. Then last November again with Eva. Difference in service is strongly in favor of Etihad. Eva is now always delayed and to save kerosene the return flight takes 1 to 1,5 hours longer than the KLM flight that departs half an hour before. It is logical that it takes longer as you go via Abu Dhabi.

Also not unimportant if you fly to Thailand more often: you simply save miles and tiers at Etihad, even if you have only paid 400 euros. With EVA you can forget that. The cheapest class no tiers.
By the way, I'm flying again in April, this time with Emirates. Experience the A380 once… And it was the cheaper one for 459,-.

        • Rino says up

You forget Bjorn that with Etihad and Emirats you have a layover of a few hours and with Eva you fly directly. Fly now direct to Bangkok in December (high season) for
          € 534 return direct.

nothing wrong with it already booked more often great employees you will be helped well only when you book you have to check the own terms and conditions of the airline that differs very much in everyone due to changing dates or whatever with one it is easier than with the other or sometimes not even a tip at all
    Greetings Ingrid
