Reader question: Who has experience with Finnair airline?
Dear readers,
I saw a Finnair ticket one way from Bangkok – Amsterdam for Euro 332.40. And the total journey (via Helsinki) takes about 14 hours. Who has experience?
My girlfriend is coming October 14, and she has no experience with transfers. The transfer time is only 55 minutes. Also because of the price of the ticket, others are often more than 250 Euro more expensive, I would like to know if this is advisable?
They fly with an Airbus A340 and Airbus A320. And they fly on Mon-Tue-Thu-Sat-Sun. We would also like information about how much weight you can take with you, and something about the meals. Who can answer this for me?
With kind regards,
Eduard
finnair is a great airline to fly with.
The airport in Helsinki is well-arranged, modern and equipped with many conveniences (including free WiFi)
Great society! Nice airport for transfer also Helsinki.
Hoi
Finnair is a great, also the airport in Helsinki is fine.
You can see the baggage weight on the website of the airline.
http://www.finnair.com/INT/GB/information-services/baggage
The food is standard fly food, fine for some, not to eat for others!
It depends on whether your girlfriend has experience in air travel!
My girlfriend is in the Netherlands for the second time, and I prefer to fly her directly.
If she's inexperienced with plane travel, I certainly don't want the trouble if she misses the connection.
The travel time is also shortest with a direct flight.
All in all, a personal choice.
Good luck and have a nice time in the Netherlands together!
Bart
Friends have good experiences with Finnair, but I think the journey is very long! Does she need a one-way ticket? At the moment KLM and Emirates have return offers around E 600 !
I think other companies too.
Hoi.
Last February I flew from Brussels to Hong Kong with Finnair.., went well, only the choice of entertainment in the plane is a bit meager, the transfer in Helsinki is very simple and well-arranged and, provided the flight arrives on time, it can be done within an hour.
Regards Jan.
I have experience with it, everything was perfect and well taken care of, for that price I would gladly take a little longer.
Greetings Cees
I flew them once with FinAir and I really liked it! Great transfer and also great stewardesses during the flight. Would definitely recommend…. No money for a ticket!
I flew with Finnair (AMS_HEL_BKK) 8 years ago and 2 years ago. Bit longer than direct but decent service. Inflight program very focused on Finnish taste; little choice. What struck me was that every time on the way to and from BKK, a Thai steward was with the crew. I don't know if that's standard though.
Airport fine and well-arranged (small).
You have to check your luggage yourself because it can often be adjusted.
Good flight!
Khaki
Had a great trip with three small children Amsterdam Helsinki Bangkok with Finnair! We ate sandwiches with reindeer meat, very tasty. It is true that the entertainment was meagre and the games didn't work. Also a video screen was broken but we received a voucher as compensation!
Caroline thanks. Was 55 minutes enough to transfer. How many kg of luggage is allowed in the suitcase? She is Thai , and does not speak English , it is easy for her to make this choice .
Dear Edward
My friend also had her doubts , and said she did not speak enough English !
I then told her that the flight was from Bangkok, and it would be very coincidental if there were no Thai fellow traveler.
She replied , but I can not speak Dutch when I arrive at Schiphol !
to which I replied, the same Thai fellow traveler is still on the same plane, he certainly doesn't get off on the way!
With this she had enough confidence to travel alone.
this of course only if it concerns a direct flight!
Bart
Without a doubt. Doing!
20 kg was allowed in the luggage. We had a transfer time of 1 hour and 50 minutes, which was generous, but 55 minutes seems a bit on the tight side to me. Everyone speaks excellent English in Helsinki and so do flight attendants, but no Thai, at least not on our flight.
make several notes for her let her write in Thai (where is the gate to Bangkok with flight number…………)
(where is the toilet)
(where should I get my bags?)
write the same question in English below.
this way you can make different notes that she can show.
they will help her best.
John Sweet
Dear, flew BRU-BKK-BRU with Finnair last year.
On the return journey to Brussels , the transfer time was 55 minutes .
I can assure you that there is no time to waste and that
you have to walk well to arrive at your departure gate on time.
I think it's for someone who has no travel experience , and maybe
cannot understand or read English, is a difficult task.
Especially if the flight BKK-Helsinki has some delay.
Then it becomes a race against time.
Rudy
Thank you all very much for the responses. I think it would be better to opt for a direct flight.
