Reader question: Flight from Bangkok to Ubon Ratchathani?
Dear readers,
Who has experience and information about a flight from Bangkok to Ubon Ratchathani? My wife is going to visit her parents for more than 3 weeks at the end of April. You will understand that after not having been for 4,5 years, she wants to take as much stuff as possible (mainly clothing) with her.
She flies from Amsterdam to Bangkok with KLM and is allowed to take 30 kilos in the large suitcase and 12 kilos in hand luggage. Can she also take it on a domestic flight? If not how much? How big can the suitcases be?
All info is welcome.
Regards,
Pete and Nida
The websites of Airasia and Nok Air give a simple answer about this, but weight is indeed a point of attention. It is worth considering taking the night train, which is a direct connection and even first class is affordable.
Hello Thai faithful,
Do you have any idea how long the night train takes and what the approximate costs are.

Hi French,
Thanks for the information, but as I see there, the bus is even faster
The wife's preference is for a domestic flight
will be the first time because before we went together by bus
but because of my health problems I can't go
gr. Pete
Yes, you asked and then you will know too 🙂
Pay close attention when booking, as others have already reported, paying extra for overweight is an option, but then you must know how much that is per kg.
Boy, boy, what questions. These are really questions that you should ask the airline and not here. You don't even tell us which company she will fly the domestic flight with. Or do you expect us to google for you?
Hello THNL
FF just to be clear,
We ask for information and depending on that information she will make a choice with which airline she can fly best.
So it seems to us that this question can and should certainly be asked here.
And we don't expect anyone to google for us, again, we ask for experiences.
Have a nice day and thanks for the info
Greetings
Pete and Nida
Hello boy boy
i am nida wife of piet
I have been living in the Netherlands for over 8 years, happily married to him and I also have Dutch citizenship.
I think our question was clear.
I think you should take a reading comprehension course.
My husband works in special education and can help you with that.

Hi, your wife is best to fly straight on with Thai Smile after Ubon Ratchathani via Suvarnabhumi, otherwise she will first have to take the free Shuttle Bus after Don Muang.
You are allowed to take 20 kg on this domestic flight (only has Thai Smile).
If you have more, it costs 60 bath per kg.
This is the easiest option for your wife so she doesn't have to lug anything from airport to airport
look at the site tickets are slightly more expensive than with Air Asia and Lion Air
https://www.thaismileair.com/en/
Lion Air you can take 10 kg with you look at their site http://www.lionairthai.com/en/
Air Asia nothing you have to indicate in advance how many kg you have and you pay for everything on their site https://www.airasia.com/en/home.page?cid=1
If you have booked with Air Asia without luggage and you come with luggage, you pay 440 baht p/kg
Pekasu success
Hi somewhere in Thailand,
Thanks for this useful information.
But she will not immediately travel to Ubon, she will first stay with a friend in BKK for a few days and visit some family there and then travel to her parents.
20 kilos and then paying the rest is a good option.
thanks again

Then I also have a solution. Kerry Express is a nationally operating courier company for parcels and larger. The largest package is 25 kg, goes in a box of 150 x 150×150 cm. Smaller is of course also possible and is slightly cheaper. 25 kg costs 450 baht Bangkok to Ubon and you can drop it off at a service point and it will be sent to the address or it can be collected from where you are staying for a small additional charge. Handy to send your extra luggage without hassle and/or by plane and shipped before 15.00 p.m. and delivered the next day within Thailand.
Just look at www Momondo, among others, and you will see all the flights that fly from Suvarnabhumi to Ubon Ratchathani on your desired date.
You have to pay Thai Smile and other low-budget companies for every kilogram of overweight, and at Thai international you can have up to 30 kilograms of weight.
Or else from Don Mueang also goes. Book from the Netherlands and immediately indicate that you will continue to work. You may pay extra, but that does not affect the total costs.
I think KLM is otherwise only 23 and 7 kilos if I'm not mistaken.
Hi Tom,
You're partially right, sorry for my mistake, but thanks for pointing it out
Have a closer look at the ticket.
Hold luggage at KLM indeed 23 kilos instead of 30 kilos
Hand luggage 12 kilos is stated on her ticket

In 2005 I went to Th with all my belongings. I waited in Don Muang for the airAsia connection to Ubon R. Then came the surprise……..I had booked the flight online in the Netherlands and did not mention my checked luggage!!
Bangkok-Ubon cost only € 25.=. So…..Oh, how happy we are today !! Because I had to pay no less than € 215, =……… for the luggage.
Much Choq-Dee…….
