Dear readers,
My wife and I received our electronic identity card from the Belgian Embassy for the first time. However, the certificates associated with the cards cannot be activated at the Belgian Embassy in Bangkok. Since we both wish to use these functions, we must address ourselves to a Belgian municipality or to certain embassies and consulates. Has anyone already used the latter in Thailand, please let me know by return?
We live in Maerim/Chiang Mai.

My eid card was requested at Be.Embassy Bangkok , normally delivery time takes 8 weeks , you must mention that you wish to use it for eid activation / use .
For me, however, it took 2x 8 weeks because people had forgotten to activate the activation for online use (probably those certificates ..) I don't know who or where they forgot, but that was it...
Count on 8 weeks as these cards go to Belgium and back via diplomatic mail.
Everything turned out fine in the end.
Also obtained my new eid card through the Belgian embassy in BKK, had it activated on my next visit in my municipality where I last lived.
Otherwise it has to be done by post (or sent by registered mail !!) and that takes some time!

There is VERY good news! Please wait. Recently learned at the VCP (Flemish Club Pattaya) meeting last Wednesday in Pattaya from the vice consul, Mr Elie Loos that the equipment in question to activate that Eid card has arrived at the Belgian embassy in Bangkok.
Given the usual Belgian red tape, it may take quite a while before it is connected 🙂 and therefore no date can be given yet that it will function.
So people there is hope, within a considerable time we will also be able to activate that eid card at the embassy in Bangkok.
