Register a daughter on Tabiaan Baan?
Dear readers,
We are coming to Thailand in December and my wife wishes to register my daughter (from a previous Thai marriage and who has dual nationality) at the Tabiaan Baan there (in Kanchanaburi). My daughter does not yet have a Thai identity card (but did receive a 1st passport at some point).
When I inquire at the Belgian embassy, I am told that we must contact the District Office to obtain the procedure. So an answer like that didn't really help.
I also do not like to be presented with a fait accompli if it turns out that we do not have the necessary papers and/or powers of attorney. Any idea ? Or a contact phone number or email from the District Office there might also help, hopefully.

Registering a Thai national in a Thai document – that booklet is exclusively a Thai matter – is done exclusively according to Thai rules. A birth certificate will be needed for sure and perhaps proof that the daughter is a child of your wife in whose name the booklet is.
So the Belgian embassy has correctly referred, it is a purely Thai matter.
You can easily turn to the administration in Kanchanaburi with only Thai documents.
In this way, our children have both obtained a Belgian and Thai ID card and ditto passport.

The Belgian embassy can of course not help you with this. You have to go to the Thai embassy in Brussels for this.
In fact, you provide the solution yourself: inquire by telephone or email at the District Office (Ampheu) of the place where you will stay during your visit to Thailand, Kanchanaburi.
My wife called a school friend who works at Kanchanaburi City Hall.
He has given a telephone number where you can call and where you can tell your story. You will also have to be at that service later to register your daughter.
Make sure that your wife also has her and her Tabien Baan's details available.
May be required to identify sight and/or look her up in the system.
Also the necessary Thai data of your daughter. Since she once had a passport, there must be data about her in Thailand. Birth certificate or something can also be helpful. Anything you think might be useful.
The telephone number of that service at the municipality of Kanchanaburi is 034 52 13 59. They make the Thai ID cards and registrations in the Tabien Baan there. So you should be able to help them further.
Of course, take the working hours into account. Normal Thai working hours there are from 9 a.m. to 17 p.m. with an hour break in the afternoon. Consider the time difference. Now only 5 hours, starting next week 6 hours again.
