Dear readers,

How does a Thai prepaid SIM card with internet work when you want to upload photos to the cloud? Do you get enough MBs/GBs and time for that?

And how much does that cost, say you want to upload 4 GB?

With kind regards,

Hella

We bought a True card the day after arriving in Bangkok for approximately 25 Euro (5 GB) and we have really liked it so far. Works everywhere, Bangkok, Koh Samui, Hua Hin etc.

In January of this year we spent about a month in Thailand. The iPad went along, of course, but the NL sim obviously stayed at home. Bought a separate data sim for a month at AIS (12Call) in Bangkok. We could choose from different data bundles of eg 1 Gb, 2 Gb, 4 Gb or unlimited. We opted for this latest version, which cost less than THB 1000 for a month. Although it depends a bit on the location where you are in Thailand, the WIFI connection was often less fast and reliable than the SIM connection. With this SIM connection we have missed a number of our favorite NL TV programs online via broadcast. And this almost always without hitches. So uploading photos or the like shouldn't be a problem at all in my opinion.

I also used a data sim during my stay in Thailand.
At the airport you can touch there without any problems.
I took one at dtac. For example, for 399 THB you have unlimited internet (low speed) and 1,5 GB with high speed. Take a look at the possibilities http://www.dtac.co.th/en/prepaid/products/Happy-internet-package.html

    Have fun in Thailand!

Very interesting, I wonder if it is also possible to have a decent skype conversation from Thailand to the Netherlands and Belgium. Am planning to go to Thailand for a longer period of time, but have to make about 50 +/- daily business calls to Europe. I understand from Jan-Willem that the WIFI is not always stable and that a SIM card is a good addition.

Does anyone have experience with VOIP/Skype for business use from Thailand?

Wifi or SIM card, we like it very much. Calling with Skype or Line (very good). However, you have to take into account that you speak calmly. Because your spoken language comes in a millisecond later and vice versa.

Michel…….Why call with Skype ? . Calling with Skype costs little, but it does cost money. While Skype
costs nothing at all. You see each other crystal clear.

Jogchum is right, calling from Skype to Skype is indeed free, but it concerns business contacts where telephone numbers will have to be called.

Wonder if this works well. I can imagine that this requires a stable connection. I'm just curious if there are Thailandblog readers here who have good or bad experience with it.
