Home » Reader question » Reader question: Where can I book bus, train and ferry tickets for Thailand?
Dear people,
I have been coming to Thailand for several years and it is my number 1 in travel destinations. Now I have traveled to Surat Thani several times by night train and bought my ticket at the train station in Bangkok.
I will do this trip again in February, but on Saturday. This is a busy day and train 85 is usually fully booked. Now I understand that it is no longer possible to book in advance at seat61 and you have to book with a travel agent.
Nice, but for example Greenwood travel asks for a ticket for 1500 baht and the same ticket costs 500 baht for the train.
So I am looking for an address to book both the train and the bus with ferry via the internet, but for a reasonable price.
Best regards,
French
Dear French,
I read your question and wonder if you wouldn't choose a formula other than train-bus-ferry. Since you speak of the ferry assume you wish to go to Koh Samui or one of the other islands in this archipelago.
You can now fly to Chumphon three times a day with Nokair. These prices are currently low; 888 Baht and you are from Don Mueang in one hour to Chumphon airport. (4 km from my home). There are shuttle buses that take you to Chumphon train station or to the pier in Paknam. From here you can take the high speed quatamaran from Lomprayah to any of the islands: Koh Samui, Koh Tao, Koh Phangan. All this will save you a lot of travel time: arrival in Chumphon at 07.10 . You will be at Maenam Koh Samui at 16.00/16.30 .
A good address for booking : Fame Chumphon ( take a look via google ) 188/20-21 Saladang Rd
Muang Chumphon
86000 Chumphon
tel: 0066 (0) 77 571 077
Fame is a 5-minute walk from the station on the main street. They speak very good English.
You leave Don Mueang at 06.00 and you are anywhere on Koh Samui at 18.00, so a total travel time of 12 hours. You can fly directly from Suvarnabhumi airport to Koh Samui, a flight every hour, but these tickets are relatively expensive (+/- 6000 Baht).
Regards,
Lung addie
Sorry I forgot to tell you I want to go to Koh Samui. I wanted to choose the night train because these are old memories for us that were fun. Second class with fan is not very comfortable but nice and cozy and arrive early on Sunday. On Koh Samui we then have time to find a hotel. In any case, thanks for the advice.
Maybe this will help you:

Can I maybe book this at the airport on arrival in Bangkok?
We have been booking all train, boat and airline tickets with Green Wood Travel in Bangkok for years without any problems.
Success!
Why fly to Chumphon? I think it is better to fly with NOK Air to Surat Thani. About the same price but much closer to the pier. You can also buy a combination ticket with flight and ferry to Ko Samui at NOK for approximately 1800 baht.
