Budget-friendly hotels near Khao San Road?
Dear readers,
Who can give me some tips about budget-friendly hotels (up to 1200 thb) near Khao San road. I plan to stay there for four days to rediscover the city.
Many thanks for your responses.
Regards,
Alain
Agoda, Booking.com and TripAdvisor are great sites where you can choose your hotel. You can see pictures of the rooms, the facilities and the price. Even if it's for a first night, I can only recommend it.
It seems to me so much more reliable than the subjective recommendations of fellow bloggers. Everyone experiences it differently.
On those sites you can also read reviews from people who have been to the various hotels. Although the Khao San Road is nice, I would choose to look for something further to the center. If you don't need a swimming pool, you can get a nice room with breakfast for 1000 Baht and be right in the middle of the action.
Just go on Agoda. Indicate the area where you want to live and your wishes… soon you will be given a choice. In my experience this is better than searching on spec, so you don't know where you will end up and lose a lot of time.
Dang Derm in The Park3 stars, right on Khao San Road,
via Hotels.com, early bird discount 112,- Euro 4 nights with
a good breakfast, look no further and just book!
Good luck Eric!

sits in an alley off soi Rambuttri, next to the temple.
Nice and quiet and yet close to all the action, if you want to look it up.
Fine rooms, with or without balcony/ac/bathroom.
Our favorite for years.
Make sure to book in time, it always fills up quickly.
Or at the neighbours: http://www.rambuttrivillage.com
Slightly bigger and more expensive with rooftop pool.
Have fun in Bangkok.
My favorite place in this neighborhood since it opened. Book on time.
Very good experiences with Rambuttrivillage, quiet yet central
Hotel Cha Cha, great location, cozy hotel with swimming pool. €30 per day
We usually stay there in a guesthouse. A good bed and a simple Thai bathroom. That's all you need there to sleep and wash
I thought we pay about 800 Baht per night

Sakul house. Sits in the street (rambuttri) behind Koa San. I sleep there regularly.
If you are looking for a backpacker near Khaosan Road I would check out Shayne Hostel. Run by owner Kraiwit Photikul (Oat as nickname) This hostel has only been opened a few months. In this hostel you will find many modernist paintings which are exhibited by the owner (also an artist). This hostel asks about 350 baht incl.breakfast. no red card. Just look for further info on Google with photos and reviews. Good luck
Alain, I have very good experiences with New Siam Guesthouse. The cheapest (New Siam I) is located at the following address: 21 Soi Chanasongkram, near Prah-Athit Road, Chanasongkram. The prices there vary from about Thb 350 for a single room with fan and shared showers/toilets in the hallway, rising to about Thb 650 with air conditioning and shower and toilet. They have a total of 4 branches. The most expensive and most beautiful is New Siam Riverside, located on the Chao Praya River. New Siam II is slightly cheaper and has a swimming pool. I do not yet have any information about the other and newest location. Three are located near the temple and the distance to Khao San Road is a few minutes walk. Siam Riverside is about a 10 min walk from Khao San. From the cheapest I have a phone number: 0-2282-4554 and fax: 0066-0-2281-7461 E-mail address: http://www.newsiam.net. I know of three that they also have a restaurant. So check the internet for an orientation.
Best of luck!
I like to stay at New Siam 2 on Phra Athiet, just behind Khoa San, but nice and quiet. Opposite the river, 5 min walk to the river boat stop. Well managed, clean, tidy (but not too big) rooms. Cozy breakfast terrace. Approx 1000 bath. Book through booking com or their own site.
Go there 2 times a year every time I go to Thailand in April and October to adapt to the climate and also to further discover Bangkok. There is also a swimming pool there and for 169 Bath you can have your breakfast across the river by the river. In my opinion the best choice. Never book on the leading edge and there is always room.
Rikka Inn, located on Khoasan road +/- 1200 Bath, with a rooftop swimming pool. Have your own page on facebook : https://www.facebook.com/RikkaInn/
Best regards. Bart.
Thanks everyone for the quick responses. It became New Siam II. Double room with AC 1683thb for two nights.
