Dear readers,

Since my first trip to Thailand last year, I have already received a lot of information about this beautiful country through this website and I still regularly read news items or enjoy the beautiful videos that are posted.

At the end of this year I'm going to Thailand for the 2nd time with 4 friends, unfortunately a lot shorter than the first time, so we have less leeway in our schedule.

Now we wondered whether it is useful to book domestic flights in advance or to do this on the spot?
It concerns 1 or 2 flights in total:

  • From the Gulf Coast to the Andaman Coast.
  • From Krabi/Phuket to Bangkok.

I hope you can help me further.

Yours faithfully,

Nathan

That depends a bit on whether it is a busy period yes or no. Normally you can also buy on site, but in a busy period it is more convenient to book in advance. During the days before songkran, for example, there was no way to get a flight.

    Hello Nathan,

My opinion is just book here.
If necessary, you can also inquire at another agency.
In the Netherlands, the travel agency naturally receives a commission for ticket sales and you cannot trade.
Here in Thailand you can trade at any travel agency.
And since it concerns 5 tickets, you have a nice negotiating position.

The only tricky point is what you say "at the end of the year"
By the holidays, everything is more expensive and therefore busier and then going safe is a big plus, especially if you have little leeway.

Good luck and have fun in Thailand.

I would do it online. There are still plenty of portals where you can book trips at reasonable prices. You can do this at home and it will save you time. Maybe through TripAdvisor?

My friend has the following happened
    He had booked Bangkok/Schiphol
His domestic flight leaving Udonthani around 2100:22.15 PM would land in Bangkok around 0200:XNUMX PM. His flight to Schiphol would depart from there at XNUMX:XNUMX AM. But when he arrived at Udonthani airport due to the storm above Udonthani, he was informed that the last flight had been canceled. was in Udon again due to bad take-off. Then they told him that he could go on the first flight the next morning. But because of this cancellation he lost the connection with Bangkok/Amsterdam
And the Thai airline does not reimburse anything on a domestic flight. So he lost his ticket money because the plane in Bangkok normally departed at night. Didn't even have a decent excuse in Udon. So people, watch out for the domestic flights in Thailand, take care if necessary. that you are in Bangkok 1 day in advance. There are hotels there with a shuttle bus connection, so that for 600 bath you can have a hotel 10 minutes from Bangkok Suwanapuur.

Jan Geluk, never had this problem, but I always took the penultimate flight from Udon to BKK. Going a whole day earlier seems superfluous to me. If the penultimate flight is not running, you can take a taxi to BKK; costs money but then you are there.

I always book domestic flights through an agent and well in advance. The end of the year is also a busy time in this country. So if it is the last 2 weeks of the year: book well in advance.

Yes, you can also book the penultimate flight, but if they do not fly out due to weather conditions in UdonThani, you will miss your connection to Bangkok Netherlands. And how much does it cost to take a taxi from Udon to Bangkok? It is best to book a day in advance. to be there in Bangkok. You can rest there and so you don't miss the flight. You can easily take a hotel at Bangkok airport for 600 bath, right?

John, totally agree. here I am always near Bangkok, but in India I always do that too. Arrive in Delhi 1 day in advance

I stick to it, even after 22 times Thailand, always be in Bangkok one day before departure to the Netherlands. That will save you a lot of stress and hassle.

And let's not forget a flight is more expensive on Saturday and Sunday.

I always book Air Asia via the internet about six months in advance, which means that cheaper seats are usually available. So I certainly wouldn't wait for the end of the year!

If your travel schedule is fixed I would look for a promo at nokair airasia etc. I booked tickets to chiang mai a few months ago for the end of October a 500 thb ps. If you book just in advance you will soon lose 5 times.

If you want to be flexible in your schedule I would pay a bit more and do it on the spot.

Do keep an eye on whether your flight days do not fall into a holiday/party.

Last month I flew to ciang rai during songkran and fortunately had booked 2 months before for a good price. 2 weeks before departure everything is full and prices x 3.

    Hello Nathan,
Booking in advance prevents disappointments, but you are bound by dates. If that is not a problem, you can easily book directly via the sites of http://www.airasia.com, http://www.nokair.com. With them you have good cheap flights. However, from Pattaya (Utapao) you can only go with http://www.bangkokair.com, to Samui or Phuket and is a lot more expensive than the former companies. Also through http://www.thaismileair.com of http://www.thaiair.com are the tickets easy to book directly. We do this ourselves regularly and shop at all airlines, compare prices and flight times and then make the decision. Have fun and good luck.

Wanted to go with Nokair from Bangkok to Chiang Mai but was much more expensive because we had to use a normal standard suitcase for the extra luggage. So just booked with Bangkok airways.

just book on site simple and cheap

Jeannet is absolutely right, you can save a lot of euros if you book yourself on those websites and early.

I advise you to book your flight online now here in NL if you are going in the period December 15 – February 15. It is then high season in Thailand and there may still be flights available, but often at very unfavorable times. If you want to continue flying immediately after arrival in Bangkok, keep a clearance of two and a half hours. We once had icing on the wings on departure from Ams and an immediate delay of 1 hour (EVA air). With this leeway you can always catch your connecting flight even with an hour delay. We always book anyway http://www.thaiairways.com. But other airlines fly to some destinations.
You can also fly from the Netherlands to Bangkok and fly back from Puket.
    Success.

    Have a look at:
    http://www.bangkokair.com/pages/view/route-map

Utapao about 45 minutes from Pattaya.

If you take nok or air asia you have to go to Dong Muan airport about 3 hours from Pattaya. Maybe BKair is a bit more expensive but faster and certainly suitable for your goals.

    success

Christmas and New Year's Eve are busy, which means that flights are full or tickets are expensive.

NokAir now has another offer. Maybe sign up for newsletters so you can follow it a bit. Please note: Air Asia and NokAir as well as Lion depart from DonMuang anyway. Txf from Suvarnabhumi to Don Muang is one hour by free shuttle bus.

In March and April it took me 40 minutes to get to Don Muang from Sathorn and Nana.

Booked from udonthani to BKK through a travel agency. When checking in, the ticket was not paid for. Fortunately, we were still able to book a new ticket: there was still room. If we had not been able to take that flight, our night flight from BKK to A.dam would also have been missed!! So always check when booking through a travel agency whether the ticket has really been paid for by them: the transfer may not have been successful. We did get our money back later. So everything ended well pffffff!

Yesterday here in Thailand, via the internet, I booked a promotional return flight, Bangkok - Phuket, with Air Asia, I fly to Phuket on May 29 and back on June 3, the total price was 2038,42 baht.

I received a voucher via the internet, went to the 7-eleven to pay, that is possible nowadays, costs 30 baht and when I came home I had confirmation that everything had been paid and an E-ticket from Air Asia, already inside.

    • Joost Buriram says up

If I look at the same flight times today, the price has now more than doubled, yesterday I paid 655,01 baht excl. taxes per flight and today those same flights are 1383,00 and 1583,00 baht excl. taxes per flight, so that still sucks.
