Dear readers,

I came home today from Thailand where I have been to Pattaya and Bangkok. I have been there many times now and in Pattaya I went to eat 2 times every day at the Klein Vlaanderen restaurant. Last year I already saw that the restaurant was much smaller (had to do with not renewing the rent) and this year it was closed (at least now it has an Indian restaurant).

My question is: who knows more about this and especially, where in Pattaya can I find Dutch restaurants where you can get a nice frikandel sandwich, for example. The same also applies to Bangkok (I know the Old Dutch restaurant and luckily I was able to eat a Dutch snack there, but perhaps there are more Dutch restaurants in Bangkok?

I would appreciate it very much if you could give me a few addresses (please provide a clear route description) so that I can certainly find a Dutch restaurant next time.

Regards,

John

If you are in Pattaya, take a van to Jomtien and then go to “Ons Moeder” on the parallel street of Thappraya Rd, just before the van turns left along the boulevard, get out. Extensive Dutch menu with endive stew, hutspot, herring, Dutch breakfast, etc

restaurant us mother, you can eat anything you want, you can also ask what you want, you will hear whether they have it. you take the bath bus from pataya to jomtien, you get out as soon as you reach the beach, (police station) then you walk, when you are in front of the police station, to the right along the boulevard, and take the first street you see, is about 10 meters from the corner, stairs about 4 steps, and walk into that street, about halfway on the left you will see our mother. so when you get off it's not even a 3 minute walk. if you have been there a few times you can get off earlier next time, but that will tell itself. We are also going there again this year, a pity that Klein Vlaanderen is gone, we sometimes went there for dinner when we were in Pataya. now enjoy your meal. oh yes you can also google our mother jomtien thailand.

There are plenty of them to find via Google. I myself come 5 times a year on average 5 weeks at a time. But I really don't want to think about eating falang food every day. Then I'd rather stay home. Thai is well in the top 3 in terms of Asian food.

i live in thailand nine months a year since 10 years i love thai food but i am there
I have since found out that it is definitely not healthy. Sugar is put in everywhere and a lot of fish sauce
is very salty. A lot of glutamate is also used. Very little vegetables are eaten, whatever
not to be trusted because there is almost no control for pesticides in Thailand A lot
species have long been banned in Europe. I often cook myself and eat more and more in European
restaurants. Organic vegetables are being offered in more and more places.
I still eat Thai, but in moderation. In the long run it also gets boring because that's how special the
      Neither does Thai cuisine.

quote from the posting: “I came home today from Thailand where I have been to Pattaya and Bangkok. I have been there many times now and in Pattaya I went to eat 2 times every day at the Klein Vlaanderen restaurant.”
This question makes it clear that the questioner never goes further than two streets and therefore does not know that in Bangkok, Pattaya, Hua Hin…. let's say all tourist hotspots, foreign restaurants are fed up. Possibly be very brave and explore a little further than walking distance from your hotel, go on a culinary discovery. Then you will discover for yourself what is on offer. Trying it out can't hurt either, if you don't like it.... next time somewhere else. You should know that the quality is usually in proportion to the price. I often see tourists studying the menu outside the restaurant, not what is on offer, just the price and if it is a bit cheaper a little further, yes then they go there ... good food is "enjoyment" and enjoyment may cost a penny more .

I do not recommend anyone to eat at the 'Old Dutch' in soi Cowboy in Bangkok. The restaurant has been British for about ten years, but has retained the old name and menu for typical 'Dutch' dishes, such as nassi rames, croquettes, bitterballen, meatball….but not to eat!
The former Dutch owner is rumored to run a restaurant in Chiang Rai.

That's right, I also hear a lot of complaints about the 'Old Dutch' no longer recommended.

    Hi John,

Have a look at Malee 3. This is located in a dead end street opposite the hospital on soi Bakou.
Good Dutch food there, such as frikandellen and bitterballen and also stampot. Owner is Pete. I have been eating there for years and am very satisfied there.
    Gr John

“Just googling, more than enough, too much to mention, enough to find”, but concretely not much more than a handful. For the Netherlands and Belgium together, actually.
I would say: Name a country that is even worse represented in Pattaya.
