First of all I would like to thank everyone who followed and read it and especially the people who responded. I have of course read all the comments carefully. From my place I wanted to make something clear: however it is possible.

And of course also a word of thanks to Thailandblog who makes it possible to learn more about life in Thailand, the changes and so on. I think that we as readers can give a big word of thanks for that.

There were negative reactions, especially about Thai women and Thai society. But shouldn't we try to approach this positively, even if something is negative you can give it a positive turn. I'll give you the test, just explain to a random person who still has to learn everything, even in your own country, to boil an egg. 95% can't even do that. It is already very difficult to explain step by step in your own language. Respect, patience and trust are the basic elements for what you want to achieve.

I had an employee in my company with a significant mental disability. In the beginning it took half a year so that this boy put the garbage container at the street on Wednesday. I sold my company and then the same young man was a salesman. Worked behind the cash register and did all sorts of things. It left me with such an extremely positive feeling, I am always grateful that I was able to do that.

That's how it is in Thailand, patience is number one. By trusting each other, and that doesn't happen automatically, you command respect. You just have a lot of uneducated people in Thailand. If you want to achieve something with these people, you have to do it step by step, one assignment at a time. If that goes well, provide a positive explanation, but also tell us what could be improved. They are really going to do their best for you.

Then the financial thing that it's always about: lost my house or she robbed my bank account empty. Yes, dear people, then you must first look for the cause within yourself. You have given cause for this, or at least you have not protected yourself enough. Unfortunately, Thailand is not the Netherlands when it comes to social services. Retired elderly have to live on 800 baht a month or the elderly have to take care of the grandchildren. Normally it would also cost you money to maintain it, so a contribution towards the costs is appropriate.

Older foreigners have often managed to hook up with a much younger woman. The woman goes for security and security and she will often do anything for that. But she also knows that if the foreigner disappears, in most cases she will have nothing left. therefore she will try to secure her future. If a foreigner arranges this well for his Thai partner, so that she has a certain income for later, she will not easily try to take something from you unlawfully (with some exceptions).

Could we have been in Thailand if the Netherlands was not and is not a welfare state for the elderly? No AOW or pension? Then we as children should have taken care of that, and Thailand was very far away for many foreigners. In short, we should put ourselves in the position of a Thai and their possibilities.

Then the reactions, nice story, clear to read, exciting and so on. I want to emphasize that I am absolutely not a writer, I wrote it from my heart and did not have to think about it. But it is fun to read the comments.

Do I have an e-mail response, the person knows me and also knows about my life before Thailand. It is a regular blog writer, every now and then we see each other and catch up. I deliberately left that out: life before Thailand. We had very different plans when we were 50, traveling the world and so on. Unfortunately, due to something fateful, we didn't get to that and I even sold my very well-run business to get more time for my children. Now I have Rash and am super proud of her. Will will definitely travel with her if possible. I want to try to keep my promise that I have always made and to shape my memory.

Now dear Thailandblog readers, this was my story. Hope to write in 10 years how it goes, after all there is always prosperity and adversity, but everything can be overcome. You can too.

    Dear Roel,
I have completely different experiences with Thailand and Thai people, but also very positive. The fact that you write this down as a counterpart to all that negative makes me happy.
Come back in ten years and let others take over and come up with positive experiences. There are plenty of them and you really don't have to look far for them.
    Thank you for your effort!
    Martin.
