Reader submission: Thai TV in the Netherlands
Some time ago I asked the readers of this blog for tips on how my Thai wife in the Netherlands can best watch Thai TV via the internet, especially channel 8, which she loves. has perished.
Tried everything, including a month trial behind a VPN (Nordvpn), which still gave the best results, but half the time it didn't work at all or only half with annoying waiting periods in between.
I have now taken a 1-month trial subscription to SeeSan TV, and I must say: this is optimal. As if you are watching Nederland 1 via a paid cable subscription. In addition, a wide range of all kinds of other films and series, in Thai, also American films. Becoming a member is very easy using Paypal.
If it continues like this, we will take out an annual subscription for about 110 euros at the end of the month. After all, the happiness of my Thai lover may cost something, she already gives enough by coming to live here!

Yes, and with the same sad result. Despite the fact that I am in Amsterdam center close to the distribution center, and have the most expensive and fastest internet connection. The problem lies in the fact that the VPN goes to Thailand (otherwise a screen is shown with: not outside Thailand!)
You don't have that problem with seeSan, because they have a server in Germany. So fine, fast connection, without VPN. Capiche?

Thank you for your nice response. My family has been in the Netherlands for 2 weeks now, and today for the first time it feels like we are really at home. It also saves living in Amsterdam, my wife could buy everything her heart desired on the Nieuwmarkt, from rice cooker to morning porridge, and all herbs (such as 3 types of basil, kaprouw?)

we also took the paid one then, and I must say we have never had any waiting periods.
the only thing that could cause this is that your RAM memory is on the low side (must be at least 1 GB) to make all TV programs faster, mind you, (applies to all of them by the way) so clean your RAM memory before you even want to watch a program (then you get rid of those waiting periods...

Last week I bought a super fast computer for 649 euros, 8 gigs of RAM, I thought the same as you. Went a little better, but still knuckled. Sometimes 1 hour at a time worked.
With seesan TV (costs the same as NordVPN on an annual basis) no problem whatsoever. An additional advantage for my computer-illiterate wife is that all she has to do is double-click seesantv on the home screen (she watches as-we-write in the dining room on my 14 year old computer without any problems) and the screen appears, all she has to do is just double click once for a large screen.
Can you teach a 5 year old child!
If you absolutely want to download something that is not really allowed in the Netherlands, a VPN is simply available for free on the internet.
Have you also tried a media player with Kodi and the ThaiTV add-on?

I myself watch a single Thai X HD channel (they are all the same in terms of news) and Sabaidee TV because of the pop music (unfortunately interspersed with SellTell-like moments)
That Kodi looks very interesting! I didn't know it existed, I'm going to look into it.
Requires some hassle to install the add-on, but we'll give it a try - because a real Dutchman never says NO to free!!
