The Bangkok Post reported that the government has decided that the Phuket Sandbox will take effect on July 1.

The Thai embassy in The Hague, however, officially knows nothing yet. This is evident from an e-mail I sent them yesterday regarding my constantly postponed CoE, and their automated response to it.

The hotel/resort in Phuket confirmed that everything is ok, but without CoE you will not get on the plane in AMS or in DOH or not in HKT.

They can't make it more fun.

The formal decision has also only just been made. Moreover, NL is so far on the list of ineligible high-risk countries,
    So please wait.

Yes, as stated in your later response.

“Cannot apply for CoE until the necessary documents have been entered in to the Government Gazette. This will be at the latest, 28th June”.

And as soon as it has appeared in the Royal Gazette, the embassies will be officially informed.

I found this morning on FB – the group 'Farangs stranded abroad…….' the next update on the Sandbox situation. Not an official text, but still good to see the 'thinking'…..

    SANDBOX updates

from a meeting this morning held by the ATTA (Association of Thai Travel Agents). These are the key points from that meeting

Cannot apply for CoE until the necessary documents have been entered in to the Government Gazette. This will be at the latest, 28th June .

Children under 18 cannot travel alone.

Children under 6 will undergo a saliva swab test.

If traveling to Phuket from different countries, such as Thai and foreign To stay in the same room the couple must be a registered husband and wife, or proven parent and children.**This is being discussed further today**

Can only travel in vehicles with SHA Plus+ certificate, including certified tour operator vehicles and approved drivers.

Getting from the airport, the bus must be SHA Plus+ only, the Airport Bus cannot be used and cannot rent a car.

Can book two different hotels during the first 14-nights, but both must be SHA Plus+ and must upload confirmation of both places when applying for CoE. Guests can only move hotels after the 2nd test result is negative.

Guests must show up to the SHA Manager at the hotel every day. If unable to locate the guest, the hotels SHA Manager must inform the Operation Center.

All arrivals must download the apps: Thailand Plus and MorChana and share your location all the time.

There are 8 swab / test centers in Phuket such as in Laguna, Mai Khao, Karon, and Patong, etc. Check the location on the Phuket Sandbox website.

If a guest tests positive on arrival the results will be sent to the Action Center and the guest will be taken by ambulance to the hospital.

If the result is found to be positive in the 2nd screening, the guest will be sent to the hospital and any accompanying person(s) will be moved to an ALQ. The SHA+ hotel will refund the rest of the room cost that can be used towards the cost of the ALQ.

More and more I get the idea that you have to be a bit crazy to use what is on offer. Why the hell would you want to invest your free time and money for a holiday with such restrictions???

Is not only for tourists but also for people who want to come to Thailand and replace 14 days of quarantine in Bangkok with Phuket.

But Thailand is forced to take such measures.

I do not know the Dutch figures, but I do know about Brussels airport. At Zaventem, more than 500 people have already been caught with false certificates. And Zaventem is just a “small” airport.

Or in Europe, if you know the right people, you can be registered as vaccinated for 200 euros. You will not receive any vaccinations but your name will be entered into the computer files. So you can use the original QR codes.

In Belgium, Liège, they were able to arrest some people who cooperated in this.

To prevent fraud, the only thing a country like Thailand can do is take the tests themselves and not rely on certificates or QR codes in vaccination booklets.

Suppose you suddenly get an outbreak of Delta variant plus in Phuket, brought in by tourists, Thai Visa and the like will again suffice with ridicule if Thailand relied on false certificates.
