Dear readers, I am Rick de Zanger (rickthesinger.com) and I live in Pattaya where I regularly perform in both Dutch and German, English and other international catering establishments and private parties.

Several years ago I spent 3 months on holiday in Chiang Mai several times. And now I'm coming back after a few years, this time for a short vacation: from 9 to 16 December next.

But unfortunately I have an addiction, and that is… SINGING! Since I'm coming by car, I'll force myself to bring my sound equipment. But of course I don't have any gigs yet.

So my question on this forum is, where could I perform for an evening (or afternoon)? Wouldn't it be a nice idea to get a group of Dutch and Belgians together and organize a fun Dutch-speaking party somewhere in Chiang Mai? But it can also be a fun theme evening such as 60's, 70's or 80's, rock-nd-roll, jazzy, reggae, rock, blues, motown, south american, country, disco, pop?

For my part I only expect cheerful and friendly guests and some food and drink. Anything more is just a surprise. Should it work right? Who can help me with this? Which location would be suitable for this? Friday 11, Saturday 12, Sunday 13 and Monday 14 December all fall in the long free weekend, so plenty of time!

You can contact me through the internet, just search 'Rick the Singer Pattaya'. With musical regards, Rick the Singer, aka Rick the Singer.com

In CM you can go to Paapu guesthouse (owner has a friend from Maastricht, I come from myself). Contact me via Line or Whatsapp, 0952216809. And preferably send some recordings of what you do. Regards, Will

You can maybe ask Jethro's Lounge about a Belgian restaurant, maybe it's possible there or maybe they know where possible.

Rick, have you ever been to Boy's Blues Bar. It is located in the Night Bazaar but may be a bit difficult to find. It sits high above the floor and can be reached via an iron staircase. Look on the internet. Music is played here by regular artists and enthusiasts who can make music or sing.
You will not earn anything with it, because the tip jar is not fat, but you will have a nice evening.

Listeners will also have a nice evening here. When I'm in ChiangMai, a few times a year, I never skip Boy.

Yes I know Boy's Blues in the Night Bazaar. I also sang there a few times, but there you can only do a few songs and only what the musicians can play. I would rather sing for a few hours and be able to build atmosphere and sing requests in all kinds of genres. Thanks for the tip.

Hope to hear from you soon.

The website looks promising with the announcement that more than 2350 songs can be sung. https://rickthesinger.com/nl/internationale-liedjeslijst-repertoire/
Where can I find videos about the performances?

I saw you at that frikadellen party in De Herbergh. It was a lot of fun, but a tip: try to expand your repertoire. I actually only heard Amsterdam (Hazes, Alberts, etc.). Those Flemish songs from the 70s are fun for Belgian expats. Or some German schlagers, if you can. Or O solo mio.

I always like the atmosphere around this kind of music, but personally I don't like Amsterdam that much. Just watch what you're doing. 🙂

Thanks for the responses so far. I'm going to see what I can do with it..... In response to Eric Donkaew's response, expanding my repertoire is fine. But don't forget that I have already sung more than 2800 songs! Of these, about 500 are from Dutch soil and a few Belgian numbers. More than 70 German (schlager) songs and more than 2200 English songs.

The assignment for the frikandellen evening in question was clearly specified as Dutch by the client, so I stick to it. But whether you want to hear blues, rock or pop, jazzy or reggae or country or rock-and-roll, disco or South American, it's all possible.

An idea might be to make it a 'request evening'. Then everyone can indicate what they want to hear.

    Enough possibilities!

To be continued, please keep coming up with ideas, thanks, Rick the Singer
