Reader Submission: COE | Apply for a Certificate of Entry at the Thai Embassy in The Hague
Last Wednesday morning I applied for a COE a total of 5 times for me and the family. Through the articles on Thailandblog I started with a good preparation, so that I could quickly upload the right documents (visa, special insurance, etc.) on the website of the Thai government.
As said; started on Wednesday morning and made a request a total of 5 times (for 5 people). After completing each application, I received an email from the embassy, containing a tracking number.
The same afternoon I received a request to upload a "bank statement", so that certainty can be provided regarding the financial resources during the stay in Thailand. After uploading the ”bank statement”, I received a new email 15 minutes later containing the pre-approval (approval) and the request to upload a flight ticket and hotel reservation.
I uploaded the flight tickets and hotel reservations for all of us (5 people) the same hour (I had already arranged these) and a little less than 2 hours later the new email arrived with a final approval for the COE.
The entire process, from applications to approval, took just under 12 hours, with a big compliment to the Thai embassy.
Small tip for the readers: The 400.000/40.000 baht insurance is not requested when you are in possession of a Non-O visa, if it is not about retirement. However, the special insurance with USD 100.000 cover is required and I had arranged this through AA Insurance.
I also received excellent help there and they also deserve a big compliment for the service provided.
Furthermore, I would advise everyone to ALWAYS upload a ”bank statement” with the application, so that the process runs smoothly and without delays.
Now just a few more weeks to wait and then the journey can begin.

It is nice to read this positive message, it gives the citizen courage.
I also have all the papers ready to apply for the COE..
My plan is to travel at the end of July.
First I have to transfer my house to the new residents at the notary in 3 weeks.
Have fun in Thailand.
Thank you very much,
Good luck to you too!
Want to join me on this, also arranged my COE, ASQ and visa last week.
All done within a week.
I also arranged the insurance through AAHuahin and in addition to the $100.000 insurance I immediately received a statement for in/outpatient for the same price because I want to do an extension based on retirement.
Have to say I've had some minor hiccups with the COE because they kept asking a few times for documents I'd already attached 2 or 3 times.
Now everything is in order and fly to Thailand with KLM on July 5th.
Stay in Amaranth Suvarnabhumi Airport and then 21 July back home.
And then I will also stay in Thailand until you can travel “normally” again, without all kinds of restrictions and quarantine, etc.
Are there any other readers who will be leaving on that day?
Thank you for the info. Just two more questions:
What does that 'bank statement' mean. Is that a recent bank statement?
For how many months do you have to take out covid insurance (in my case non-visa based on marriage)?
bank statement
That is indeed a bank statement. In my case I had enclosed a copy of the entire month of June (juno according to a well-known minister).
Insurance for Non-O visa
This must be valid during your stay in Thailand and you can request it in advance. You can indicate the dates you want yourself.
Are you staying in Thailand from 01-08 to 01-11? Then you should also have insurance for that period.
I had to take out insurance for 90 days with an “O' visa, which I converted in Thailand into a Retrieval extension after 60 days. Insurance is no longer required. In Shisaket
I also have a non O based on marriage, single entry. So 90 days.
You must take out insurance for the duration of the visa.
I am going to apply for an extension of stay in BKK and have taken out my insurance for 6 months, but 3 months is actually sufficient.
Did this because in Thailand you are immediately admitted to hospital if you test positive, even if you are asymptotic and then the costs can also rise considerably.
I
I have applied for and received a CoE twice and a bank statement has never been requested.
In Brussels they didn't ask for CoE either
Just to apply for your visa so they already know if you have enough why ask twice
Have the same experience with applying for the COE. Everything arranged within 1 day.
The computer system also works smoothly and well. Questions are answered directly by the Embassy
answered. Hulde!.. .
Positive!
My experience is right. As long as you read what is required and you enter and forward everything step by step, then obtaining a COE is a piece of cake.
I wish you a pleasant stay soon!
Thanks @RobHH
Dear FF!
2 questions:
Bank statement: Is a recent overview of your bank balances (download from internet bank) sufficient?
Statement of Insurance: Is a statement stating only “incl. all Covid related treatments”, without stating amount, sufficient? This was often discussed, but it was never clear whether that amount (which NL health insurers are so difficult about and for which I have already taken action in the form of a complaint to insurers and notification to ministries) should or should not be specifically mentioned. .
Thanks in advance for response.

Just like with your visa application, a bank statement is a statement from the bank that you are the owner of a certain account or accounts, comes with a balance.
Bank balance must indicate about 2000 per month of stay as balance otherwise it will be rejected.
Bank statement: A recent download, from the same day with a period of the entire month, was sufficient for my application.
Insurance: My policy (arranged through the AA Insurance known here on the forum) clearly stated the covid-19 coverage including amount of at least USD 100.000.
Dear founding,
What flight/connection are you flying into Phuket if I may ask?
Regards,
Will liam
Dear William,
We have no plans to go to Phuket. The application was not for the much-discussed Sandbox.
Who here mentioned Pukhet?
For the time being, we are not yet welcome as Dutch people from an unsafe country. Put that out of your mind for now.
Great news,
I am now in the Netherlands and also want to apply for a CoE, but for the Phuket Sandbank scheme.
I want to leave for Thailand on August 4, I waited a month to see how things are going.
In the meantime I have already reserved a hotel in Phuket, because the prices will certainly rise quickly when the regulation comes into effect.
I keep following it.
Is this all based on the “Sandbox” Phuket system or on the 14 day ASQ/ASL quarantine System?
Hi Jan,
My comments are separate from Sandbox and only pertain to the ASQ in Bangkok.
It could be that fellow bloggers are talking about Sandbox and Phuket.
My experience is an original bank statement with address details plus original logo and regular incoming money or assets. A copy of that. A printout from your PC should also suffice if you do not receive any statements. Question: I read take out covid insurance with AA Huahin, web address? What are the costs of that, say pmnd? Is that possible for every nationality?
Hi Danny.
AA Insurance can be reached via the email address below.
https://www.aainsure.net/nl-index.html
If I am not mistaken, they are also active on thailandblog and when you contact them, they will certainly want to answer your questions substantively.
I am also very curious about the bank statement.
I am thinking of a written statement from the Thai bank, but how can I get it in the Netherlands?
Thanks in advance for further explanation.
Dear Peter,
A bank statement is nothing more than an online statement.
You can download this directly from your own (Dutch) bank if you have the option of internet banking.
I just made a printout of my Thai account and my NL account.
How do you do that from your Thai bank account?
I have an account with KTB bank and Kasikornbank and can simply log in to my account in the Netherlands and then make a printout.
I can do all Thai banking in NL via the internet
That is curious though. I live in Bangkok, have an account with the KTB and the Bangkok Bank, but cannot print a bank statement for a year (required by Immigration) but have to go to the bank branch.
At the KTB this is done on the spot, for 200 Baht, at the Bangkok Bank it takes 3 days, also for 200 Baht. (done last week)
With KTB Netbank you can look back up to a maximum of 6 months and make a printout.
So make a printout every six months or more often if you have to hand in the mutations of the past year every time at immigration.
