Yesterday Lung addie happened to be in Coral Beach. As usual Lung addie goes on Friday afternoon, but this time he went earlier because he had visitors and he wanted to show his guests one of the most beautiful beaches in Chumphon province.

Just as coincidentally as I was there yesterday, I saw that the staff was preparing to make decorations. What was this supposed to be for since, to my knowledge, there was nothing special to do. So just ask and yes, this week there is something special going on in Thung Wualean, namely 'roller ski championships'. No one around me knew about this event. So ask: when, where exactly and at what hours, a Thai answer: "MAAI RUU" So there is no other option than to investigate yourself, because if there is something important going on in the area, Lung Addie wants to be there to keep readers of the blog informed.

Rollerski has made its appearance here in Thailand on the initiative of Kalle, a Norwegian, who is an avid practitioner of this sport. Roller skiing can be compared to cross-country skiing, but on paved roads instead of snow. The ski slats are fitted with wheels and the skier propels himself forward by means of two sticks. It is a fairly intensive sport, but in fact everyone can do it at their own level. Kalle is very successful with his initiative. In a year's time he managed to gather a very large group of interested people around him. He addressed a few local schools and in this way gathered a good number of young enthusiasts. Rollerski is a sport in which you have to invest little financially, so it is extremely suitable for the not always wealthy population of Thailand.

This afternoon Lung addie has an appointment with the organizer Kalle where he will learn more about this three day event. There would already be some participants from Norway on site, so Lung addie will be there for a first interview. Regarding the promotion of the events here, there is still a lot of work to be done. Events take place and practically no one knows about them.

The further course will therefore follow in a subsequent story.

    Now I don't know yet which is the most beautiful beach of Chumpon and where it is located, I would have liked to know that after opening the newsletter I was very curious.
    But the story takes a completely different turn, which was also noticeable that the photo does not show a beach, but yes, maybe that can be mentioned in the follow-up story?
    That it is then about rollerski surprised me a bit and after reading it I thought I will not do that in my life here in Bangkok where every once in a while there is a bump or a hole in the road, so there has to be be a special field with a suitable job otherwise I don't see many people going to do it.
    Also good luck with the organization.

      @tombang,
      the province of Chumphon has several beautiful beaches. That is also why I clearly wrote: “one of the most beautiful….” The fact that the photo does not show a beach is due to the fact that the article is not about the beach, but about the rollerski championship. In Bangkok it will be difficult to practice this sport, certainly not on the public road. Well, here you can and even without any problem. The roads here are very good, without potholes and bumps. One of the most famous is 'Scenic Route', a cycling route that runs from just outside Hua Hin all the way up the coast to Chumpon.
      The beaches like Thung Wualean, Hat Bo Mao, Coral Beach, Thung Sang, Sairi Beach…. can all be easily found via Google and also on this blog. Lung addie has written many articles describing the region here and can still be found via 'search' here on the top left of the homepage. They are described in the articles 'On the road' and these routes are easy to do by scooter, motorcycle, bicycle or possibly by rollerski. The roads are very good and are currently even being renovated and provided with extra wide cycle paths. Major renewals are currently underway from Pathiu to Thung Wualean…. Yes, Chumphon is a very prosperous province and it shows.

    Hi Mr Bang,
    Google is Coral Beach and Thung Wualean, more than enough information to read about.
    Lung Addie's travelogues also describe both more than once.
    In Bangkok you can cycle Co van Kessel, at coral beach it is great to roller ski for us it will be the 3rd time, and every time a great experience.

    Given the traffic behavior in Thailand, you hold your breath with these kinds of messages. You have to be quite daring to do this. Hopefully the course is closed to traffic and the roads are decent. Sport is always recommended, but be careful and keep it safe for the participants.

      Yes, the course is completely traffic-free and closed. There is a very good cooperation with the local police here. The roads here are also very good. This is not 'Chakkamakka' here.
