They were feared, the red army of stupid peasants from Isan. Simple souls who only wanted to protest for money. Suckers who blindly follow the billionaire and professional swindler Thaksin. They would burn down Bangkok. The airport would be occupied, the tourists would be screaming Thailand subterfuge. A civil war at least. Dead, wounded and crippled would fall. Chaos, anarchy and unrest in beautiful, peaceful Thailand.

Respect for the red (photo: Bangkok Post)

And once the reds came to power, the fun would be over. All expats were then kicked out of the country. Thaksin would come back to sell Thailand to Cambodia for 100 baht.

The Yellows shit their pants. It could not be the case that those simple farmers can ensure that they have to share their wealth. No, isn't that unthinkable? That they should stop dividing the mats lanes.

But none of this…..

The reds are just normal people. No violence, no guns, no mess. Music, singing, the occasional parade. No misery. How is it possible?

Maybe they are not stupid farmers, but people who want to be listened to. Who get the feeling that they also count. Who also want a normal life, for their children and for themselves. Because things are going well in Thailand, right? The economy can even grow by 5%. Beautiful. But the farmer in Isaan will benefit little. The rich get richer and the poor get poorer.

No, I am not a communist, not even a socialist. But a person with feeling. And sympathy for the farmer who is bent every day in his rice field for a few cents.

If you live such a shitty life and are able to protest non-violently, then you have my support!

Respect for the reds!

To a large extent I agree with you. On this blog, these and those are also not averse to mood-mongering, fear-mongering and at least wild speculation. Often accompanied by some pictures of the April 2009 riots (without actually mentioning it) – tanks in the streets and burning buses are always a good thing.

In Thailand many things are unpredictable - but we can only conclude that so far the red shirts do not deserve the generally suggestive and speculative coverage in the professional and amateur news!

It's a relief to see a different angle.

@ Robert – That fear mongering is caused by the Redshirts themselves. May I remind you of Arisman's speech (of which there is video footage) where he calls on all demonstrators to bring a bottle of petrol to Bangkok.
Fortunately, there are also sensible redshirt leaders

    @Evert

That redshirts spread fear is nonsense. Of course there is always rhetoric to be found somewhere, especially in such an emotional situation. There is only talk of sowing fear if the media and amateurs with internet access start to focus on rhetoric and speculate on that basis.

By the way, I see that I am not the only one who occasionally has some doubts about the one-sided and speculative 'reporting' of certain writers on this blog.

    Opinions can differ completely!

I have a completely different opinion when it comes to stupid farmers.
    I choose yellow color !
But if nothing happens, we'll keep this puppet!
You can't blindly turn every (stupid farmer) into a h*er, because they're out of money.

Been living here for 20 years, so have a little experience and insight!

I'm dying to talk to one of the leaders you can talk to from the reds.
    Thailand will benefit from it.
My investors on 1 project of 15 million euros have all withdrawn.
They were on board with everything and arrived in Kuala lumpur.
Now I need 10 people who want to invest 2500 .-euro in 1 good idea in the Isaan.
    I can not find 1 .
While that idea will get the Isaan a lot of tourists
In addition , peace will return .
