Dear Martin,

I have a question about my health, I have sent a letter to my doctor in the Netherlands but due to the law on privacy he cannot answer. That is why I am giving you part of the letter here. My problem is that sometimes, every 6 or 8 weeks, but very irregularly, I have some pain when urinating.

The pain I feel then is / is directly behind my glans. When I urinate, I feel pain there when urine passes. I think there is a little inflammation there. Usually I feel it 2 days in advance. One or 2 days later, usually a clot or little blood comes out, sometimes a few drops after dripping. The pain is gone and then it's all over again.
I don't think it's blood from my bladder or from my prostate, it's 2 or XNUMX drops of blood and then the urine is clean again. So it really comes from my glans and I don't think it's further away.

You will understand that I am extra careful with my blood thinners at that time.

Of course I can go to the hospital here, but then I don't know if I can convey the above properly and what they will do. There are skilled specialists here, but rather not here. The language here is also difficult for me as I speak almost no English either.

Data from me; I'm 77 years young, I've been checked regularly and my PSA is about 12. I didn't have an operation because I didn't want to, it doesn't bother me either and I usually have to get out once during the night and sometimes twice. I don't smoke and drink very little alcohol. Weight is 1 kg and am 2 l. use a blood thinner every other day and 82 Diltiazem HCI Sandoz 180mg every day. I hope you can do something with this information and look forward to your reply.

Many thanks in advance,

A.

Best A,

I do not understand what a question from you to your GP has to do with the law on privacy. That's why I can answer.

There are various possibilities. An infection is one of them. Another possibility is that you have bladder stones or kidney stones. That's where those plugs fit. Those stones can damage the urethra, so that some blood comes with it.

Kidney stones are unlikely, as you may have had flank pain. Your prostate can also cause these problems.

My advice is to have your urine checked for blood and bacteria first. If that does not give a definite answer, then a urologist is the next step. That's just the way it is.

Take an interpreter with you to the doctor. In Thailand they have very good doctors.

Do not wait to long. Not more than 6 weeks.

Yours faithfully,

Martin Vasbinder
