Dear Martin,

I have undergone treatment against blood cancer in Belgium. All this just before my retirement while I planned to stay in Thailand for six months every year. My blood values are fine again. Now I would have to take 1 pill per day of Lenalidomide as a maintenance treatment. Every 3 months I should also have my blood values checked.

I suppose I can also have my blood values checked in a Thai hospital so that if they are good, I don't necessarily have to return home for them.

Is the drug Lenalidomide available in Thailand? In Belgium this is fully reimbursed, but according to the first data, would I only receive three doses after each check-up?

Regards,

F.

Dear F,

Lenalidomide is available in Thailand under the names Leavdo, Lenalidomide, Lenangio and Revlimid.
I don't know what it costs.

I recommend that you contact an oncologist or a hematologist in Thailand, because the drug is officially not allowed to be sold over the counter. These doctors can monitor your blood values at the same time.

Bring as much information about your medical history as possible. In English. Your attending physician can arrange this.

Yours faithfully,

Dr. Maarten
