Dear Martin,
Can you switch from one antibiotic to another halfway through the course? In this case from Ofloxacin to Cefplan.
I am now taking ofloxacin prescribed by the local clinic for cystitis. Because I wanted to be sure about the bladder infection, I went to the regional hospital for further examination. There I had my kidneys and bladder examined more closely. The doctor there gave me cefplan. Because I thought you couldn't just switch medicines during the course, I kept taking the ofloxacin. My wife thought that I should take that new medicine that was prescribed by the doctor of the larger (ie better) hospital.
Thanks in advance for your comment.
Yours faithfully,
A.

Best A,
In principle, switching from one antibiotic to another is possible. In your case, that is from a Quinolone to a combination of ofloxacin and cefixime (a cephalosporin). This way you can avoid any resistance.
Yours faithfully,
Dr. Maarten
