Dear Martin,
We have been in contact before about my blood pressure. I am taking Metroprorolol 50mg and Lisinopril 10mg. Because the Metroprorolol here is in 100mg I break this one.
Due to the rather large price difference between these two, I would like to know if I can achieve the same effect with 100 mg Metroprolol every day and then drop the Lisinopril?
- 66 years
- 200 cm and 125 kg
- Non smoker
- Blood pressure 140 / 80 (2 weekly check)
Regards,
J.

Dear J,
You can try it, but I won't recommend it. A higher dose of metoprolol can lead to a “too” low pulse rate.
If necessary, you can replace the Lisinopril with Enalapril, starting with 10 mg per day. If necessary, you can increase that to 20 mg.
Enalapril is much cheaper than lisinopril.
Yours faithfully,
Dr. Maarten
