It now seems to be a period where you can encounter more snakes than usual. I had taken notice of this.
A few weeks ago I wanted to bring in the cushions of the garden furniture because of the rain and discovered a one meter hose under the cushions. The beast was more frightened of me than I of him and slid silently from the couch into the garden. Since then I wear rain boots when I want to work in the garden, because I don't know where he might be. I haven't seen him again.
On Sunday, all the dogs in the neighborhood suddenly started barking. This took quite a long time and intense. It turned out that a snake of more than two meters had crawled into my garden and hidden behind a large plant pot.
Quickly took a few pictures because that doesn't happen every day. According to the Thai people, this was a so-called "coconut snake", which can bite, but is not poisonous.
Before the emergency service arrived, he slid fairly quickly across the terrace to a high wall where he easily climbed up, slid over it and disappeared into the hinterland. I was surprised at the speed at which the beast moved.
From now on I am even more alert to what can happen around me.
Last year my labrador and snake bit to death, grayish in color, I don't know anything about snakes, that beast was 1.5 meters long, short fight and the reptile was more blissful.
I live in the jungle, with a large forest next to me. Every week I see a few snakes shuffling past and I immediately search on google. Most are harmless and this one in the picture has jaws too short to bite a human, only prey. But a few months ago I heard people screaming and a python of about 4 meters had landed at my neighbors. Well, I can tell you that 3 men couldn't keep him under control and then a PVC pipe is useless, so reinforcements soon arrived. The last snake I saw in my yard was jet black with red spots/spots. Can't find him anywhere, maybe someone knows more about this beast?

Good tip with the PVC pipe, only… last night it was too late for the hose we had in our outdoor kitchen. He was immediately killed by two people… with a PVC pipe (me) without a loop and with a bamboo stick (my girlfriend)…. I believe she killed him first, but we are both killers of the poor beast…

We live in the area of Wanoniwat -140 km north-east of Udon Thani-, many fields and forests.
So regular hoses in and around the house (with large garden).
My girlfriend immediately alerts family and acquaintances.
They catch any serpent, big or small, venomous or not.
And eat it. And I am offered a glass of blood every time.
Good for health and libido they claim.
But I prefer to keep my distance, I never know – poisonous or not.
Although I have learned that those beasts are more afraid of me than I am of them, they always try to escape.
We already had quite a few snakes in our spacious garden, dozens, including Cobras, some snakes hang in the banana trees, most of them move, often quickly, over the ground.
Our dogs alarm us with a different bark than normal, and are therefore already busy barking at the snake and grabbing and shaking it if possible.
The snakes like to hide in bushes, the dogs bite the bushes and pull the hose out, we then tackle the hose, given the speed that the snakes can develop, I really don't see a chance to use the PVC pipe loop technique to use. When the snake adventure is over we reward the dogs with a treat so they keep warning us and they do that perfectly.
When I say Ngoe and grab a bamboo stick, they go into the garden full of alertness and immediately, we have taught them to strike when they see a snake in the garden; now and then they also catch a mouse.
We often have more snakes in the garden if, for example, Chinese potatoes are harvested in adjacent soil, then we take this into account.
Caution and attention is certainly required, e.g. picking up a wooden platform that has space underneath and that has been there for a long time, etc., most snakes are not fatally poisonous, but there are some nasty ones.
Basically, a snake will try to flee.

I have to tell you, I don't know much about snakes, but with us in the Isaan there are of course plenty.
I once rode my bike behind a black snake, and I had to pedal hard to keep up with that beast. So I like snakes, but very far from me.
The fastest snake in the world is the Black mamba and lives in South Africa.
She reaches 16-20 Km per hour at a short distance.
Quite a lot of course, but I think it won't be too bad to keep up with this by bike. 😉

It reads that some of you don't have a garden with a relaxing terrace, but more an Adventure Park behind the back door. Snakes are not really my favorite pet. I haven't really met them in Thailand yet, but that's because I'm more of a tourist than a permanent resident like many of you. I see rats rushing by regularly, so snakes are also nearby. Are there any specialty restaurants in Thailand where they BBQ and cook snakes? I have encountered them in Vietnam and China and it is quite a trade and they are eaten with relish. In Vietnam I regularly spotted the Krait in various fast clothing and I went around the block for a while. I have also spotted the Mamba a few times in Africa. I'm not Mr. Bolt or any other fast guy so that 16 to 20 km is quite a lot of speed I can tell you. Especially if your lead is only a few meters and you are still transfixed by the fright. But maybe with a snake around there's a good chance I'll sprint out Mr. Bolt. Locals often turn into rescue snake catchers/charmers in no time and show their bravery as true warriors M/F.
I was told by Thai that if you see a snake three times in one day, anywhere, it will bring you good luck. Fortunately, I have had a large snake living under my house for a long time, which I therefore enjoy meeting every day. Most snakes are non-venomous and will generally take off quickly if you come across them. However, don't kick their "tail" or tease them. Then you can expect problems. Watch them live! They protect you from mice, rats and other unwanted creatures. I love my local pet being a beautiful big snake!
