On Wednesday, March 15, 2017, the elections for members of the House of Representatives will take place in the Netherlands. For people staying in Thailand who still want to cast their vote that day, certain rules apply and registration in advance is necessary.

To be able to vote for the House of Representatives elections from Thailand, you must register in advance. You can do so until 1 February 2017. Op this website more information about registration and voting from abroad can be found here.

Who can vote from abroad?

To be able to vote from abroad, the voter must meet the following criteria:
– Possess Dutch nationality.
– Be 15 years or older on Wednesday, March 2017, 18 (the day of the vote).
– Not registered in a Dutch municipality, Bonaire, Sint Eustatius or Saba.
– Not be excluded from the right to vote.

If you live in the Netherlands, but you stay in Thailand on March 15, the day of the elections, for a holiday or hibernation, you can also vote, but separate rules apply. You find this one here.

    Thanks for the tip and I just fixed it.

    Voting is and remains very necessary because the less, less (read shorten) culture continues to keep politics busy.
    Just received a message that my ABP pension has been reduced by 15 euros per month due to the effect of tax measures. Yes, it can't be left then but right is thought, because double sewn holds better. Why trust in politics. There are those who have really lost their way.

    At least I know who I'm going to vote for and hope that many make a better choice this time including myself than in the past.

    I have already registered. I hope it works this time. Three times I applied for previous elections and three times the ballot paper came too late.
