Thailand has a huge market for used cars and if Thai or expats want to sell a car quickly, they often end up at the auction company Manheim.

Manheim Auctions is the largest car auction company in the world. They act as intermediaries between buyers and sellers. The company trades millions of cars every year. Even on a normal day in Bangkok, a few hundred cars go under the hammer.

Manheim recently celebrated a 10 year anniversary in Thailand. Part of the proceeds of the jubilee auction went to a good cause: a children's home in the province of Lopburi that cares for orphans infected with HIV & AIDS.

There are many auctions in Thailand.
In Chiangmai next to the Big C formerly the old Carrefour , on the super highway .
    Next to Payap university .
I have also been there a few times to help a Dutchman with a cheaper second-hand car.
    But I warn you all.
It's an auction, you can view the cars the day before, but that's all.
Listening to the sound of the engine or taking a test drive is not an option.
During the auction, the price is pushed up.
An acquaintance of mine and a Thai used car dealer already warned me then.
It a Game, Not Buy THERE.
You do not know what you are buying , after purchase and payment .
Are you sure you have all the problems that entails.
Are you looking for a good second hand in Thailand in my opinion, go to Toyota or Chevrolet for example, has a SURE second hand program.
If you like to gamble , buy a used vehicle at auction .
Later you find out that you have bought too expensive .
There are many auction houses in Thailand for cars and some are run by banks such as Thanaschart bank and Kainikin bank.
    Doesn't matter, just for information.
Jantje as an old technician likes to know and see and test drive before he buys something.
That's why I still have my old Mitsubischi Strada, once bought second hand 10 years ago for 240000 bath was then 2 years old.
And can get 180000 in return at the time, when purchasing a new pickup.
So now 12 years old and in top condition thanks to Jantjes own maintenance.

Greetings Jantje an old key worker.

I would like to add something to this .
In such companies, making money is a pre-requisite.
If you have bought a car at the auction there , and after a while the whole engine runs out of juice , try telling something .
    They won't even notice you.
Why does a car or motorcycle go to auction? Think about that first.
Usually the previous owners have financial problems.
The acquaintance of me , an ordinary car dealer , has a box , then told me a story .
Someone was in a divorce quarrel with his wife , short of money , alcohol problem .
Was angry car had to be sold.
A few days before the auction was offered, let the engine run at full throttle without load for a while, among other things, was drunk again.
You will buy a car like this one day.
In Thailand you unfortunately do not have Bovag and their warranty system as in Holland.
In Holland it is sometimes already a bad idea to buy a second-hand car.
Why would you do it in Thailand with your hard-earned money and living here.
    I sometimes wonder that.
I was able to convince the Dutchman with whom I went to see it and now drives a new Mitschubishi Pajera.
Probably on installment , but much better off .

    Greetings Jantje.

    PS: You have been warned.
