Today, Dutch people abroad can contact the 24/7 BZ Contact Center if they have problems, questions or advice. For example about passports, travel advice and legalisations. But also in case of emergency. Think of admission to a foreign hospital or loss of a travel document.

The telephone number of the 24/7 BZ Contact Center is +31 247 247 247. This Contact Center can be reached anytime, anywhere. So also if you stay or live abroad, such as expats and pensioners. So put the phone number in your phone.

When you call the Dutch embassy abroad, you will automatically be transferred to the contact centre. So you call at local rate. You can find the telephone number of your embassy on the embassy's website.

The Dutch go on holiday about 18 million times a year. It is of course wise that you are well prepared for your trip. For example, by consulting the travel advice and downloading the 24/7 BZ Reis app.

Also follow the Twitter: @247BZ. Here you will find the latest travel advice. You can also ask questions and find other important travel news.

Vacationers

There used to be a central number that travelers could call anywhere in the world, but from now on that number in the Netherlands can be reached 24 hours a day, 7 days a week for practical tips and questions for help. “The Dutch are traveling further and more adventurously. They book that very easily at the touch of a button and they do not always prepare well. They get into trouble more often, our figures show,” explains Foreign Affairs spokesperson Daphne Kerremans.

In 2015, the ministry and embassies had to provide assistance to Dutch people on holiday almost 800 times. For example, to help track down an address, for financial mediation, consular advice, or in case of missing persons and deaths.

Today there is an article in De Telegraaf about this.
However, that article contains a slightly different telephone number for BZ Contact Center:
    +31 247 247 247 2427 (there is a 2 before the last 7)
Wonder what the correct number is.

The telephone number from the Telegraaf is incorrectly displayed, it is: +31 247247 2427.

That will probably result in a lot of stupid questions and the subsequent “outrage” that you will not be helped by the embassy if, for example, you have lost your suitcase or phone or something. Already feel sorry for those who have to man this helpline.
