Because it is such a beautiful and romantic party, we look back at Loy Krathong one more time with this beautiful video.

'Loy' literally means to sail, and a 'Krathong' is a vessel made of various materials in the shape of a lotus flower. This craft usually contains a candle, incense sticks, flowers and nine coins, because nine is the lucky number for Thais.

The festival starts at dusk in the evening when the full moon is (and often also the evenings before and after). Thais then go to the banks of ponds, canals, lakes, rivers and the sea to take their krathong to the water. The candle and incense sticks are lit and then the krathong is launched. It is believed that the longer the candle burns the better your luck in the coming year. On the water, the thousands of small and large vessels are often a beautiful sight.

The Thai couples also launch the krathong together. The longer they stay close to each other, the longer and more beautiful their relationship will be. Some pairs lend a helping hand to the krathongs by connecting them with a small piece of string.

  1. l.low size says up

A beautiful promotional video of the Loi Krathong 2017 provided by the TAT.

Despite the government's request to keep it sober this year due to
the recent cremation ceremonies of the late king seem to be the opposite
    supposed to be displayed.

I have never encountered it in this way in Thailand!
