Ten coffee shops in Phuket
It is perhaps the fastest growing industry in Thailand as more and more coffee shops are popping up all over the country. You probably know them from when you travel through the country by car, because you will also find a separate coffee shop at every parking lot with petrol pump, shops and restaurants. The coffee shop industry is also expanding steadily in urban areas.
Similarly in Phuket. Of course you can drink coffee in a deadly boring (and expensive) Starbucks, but it is much more fun to have a "cup of coffee" in a cozy environment, where the owner usually prepares the coffee for you.
Tim Newton from the Phuket Gazette went on a trip to Phuket and tested a number of coffee shops. He made an article with pictures of it, which you can read here: www.phuketgazette.net/lifestyle/phukets-top-ten-coffees
He described his choice in random order as follows, where you can enjoy coffee in a pleasant environment:
- Graham Coffee, Kathu
- Rush Coffee, Sam Kong
- Coffee Tribes, Rawai
- Cafe Station, Paklok
- Life's a Bike Cafe, Kathu
- Coffee Beans & Greens, Central Festival
- Coffee Lab, Cherngtalay
- Delish Cafe, Rawai
- WeCafe, Chalong
- ....
As you can see, he left number 10 open and invited the reader to recommend another coffee shop in Phuket, as there are bound to be others.
I wonder if there are blog readers who live or stay in Phuket, who will announce their choice with a tenth example.
If you don't live in Phuket, you can of course also name your favorite coffee shop elsewhere in Thailand.
I prefer to buy a good cup of coffee from an ordinary roadside stall, with a price of between 20 and 40 baht.
If I go to a coffee shop I lose 100 baht, often with air conditioning and wifi. The coffee doesn't taste any better, usually.
And for that price (2,50 euros) I can just stay in Amsterdam.
There are countless coffee shops – at least here in the north – where you can drink an excellent cup of coffee for 30 – 40 baht, also with WiFi and air conditioning if necessary. In Chiang Rai city, Grace Bakery is my favorite address. Add cake – lots of choice – and finally pay 80 baht No money………..
At the Bunsom coffee shop in Huay Yai, Soi 17, a good cup of coffee (Bon Coffee quality) is 35 Baht, a good capuccino (hot) is 40 Baht. The price includes a glass of water, small biscuits in a glass, coffee cream if desired, and a choice of cakes.
In addition, it offers European and Thai meals and on Tuesday afternoons from December 12
organized herring afternoons.
Wi-Fi available.
Huay Yai gambling Pattaya, no so BKK won't win Hua Hin yes thanks for your extensive info.
From Pattaya/Jomtien drive towards Sattahip.
After the famous Floating Market, turn left at the first traffic lights to Huay Yai.
After 5 km..at Tesabal Road 1 Soi 17 turn left, after 100 meters left next to Beauty salon Sirada.
Even in front of the town hall, the school and sports fields.
Dear Kevin,
Sometimes something is taken for granted so much that you forget the people, not them
be aware of locations!
Sorry about that.
I once wrote this poem for the waitresses in cafe Veranda
For Pem and Gee Gee
Have a coffee at the Veranda Café
You'll get a smile, sugar and cream
Look in her eyes and read her dream.
Dark is her skin, her mind is strong,
same-same the coffee she brings along.
Coffee and sugar. Coffee and cream.
Look in her eyes and read her dream.
Black Canyon and 94 Coffee are my favorites; Starbucks is done for me (no longer serve good coffee but are masters of sugar drinks and I don't like them)
You can also see The Coffee Club everywhere but is relatively expensive. Amazon is one of my favorites locally and affordable.
The nice thing about this is that coffee shops in Thailand are actually places where you can drink coffee. From 1982 to 1990 I lived in Germany and I already knew coffee shops from South Korea.
When I moved back to the Netherlands in 1990, I found out that coffee shops in the Netherlands sold a completely different product.
Here in Thailand I find nice places to sit for an hour, drink a cup of coffee (preferably caramel machiatto) and read my book. Starbucks…. the first and last time I drank “coffee” there was five years ago. For 250 baht a cup of coffee I think it's really too expensive.
Although, the most expensive coffee I ever drank in Japan. It was a show, how the coffee was made. But I didn't like the coffee and then, thirty years ago, that coffee cost me 10 Euros (or Guldens)…
But all in all, I think the coffee I drink at home is the tastiest and cheapest!
Here in BKK, the retreat is already noticeable and the takeover by a few large groups, especially AMAZON, has nothing to do with that mail order bookshop. So passed station.
As it goes with every hype here in TH: a few see an opportunity, then others see it, and that it apparently generates money and because parrots / imitation is in the blood of the Thai, oversupply and declining income in no time, with the bankruptcy as a result.
Here area Rayong Coffee Today 40-50 baht the best here for now. And nowadays also Dutch stroopwafel, also at Amazon number 2 as a favorite.
At this point, Amazon is definitely recommended. At hospitals and also on the way on highways, there are some that are nicely decorated and with a beautiful garden, where you can sit quietly. The price for a cup of coffee is quite reasonable, unlike Starbucks or other large chains.
Amazon is also my favourite, so I only fill up where an Amazon is located. Often large Koi carp swimming under the terrace and shaded terrace. Capuchino with your choice of tea or water for 45 Bath.
Never seen a coffee shop in Thailand.
Many cafes with good espresso (warm) for ฿ 25.00
Usually with a glass of tea or warm water.
In Patong Beach you have 3 coffee shops from one and the same owner.
They are called Coffeemania, owner is called Nok and lives above one of those shops on Nanai Road. Friendly staff and very reasonable (cheaper than the Coffee Club or Starbucks) prices. And you can also have breakfast and lunch there.
We regularly visit all three, because they are on our way to the beach.
