Cafe-Restaurnat-Deli Tiki-Tiki in Khon Kaen

Do you also, like me, fancy a croquette every now and then? Or a nice bitterballen with a glass? Do you also sometimes feel the need for a special frikadel? Or even worse, a noodle snack?

If you live in Khon Kaen or the surrounding area, salvation is at hand. In the center there is now a restaurant annex shop where you can stock up on these snacks. Frozen, so long shelf life, and all from a good brand. Tiki-Tiki restaurant/bar/shop has it all and more.

Incidentally, it deserves for those who come from far away to contact us before the departure. Supply sometimes does not keep pace with sales. The manager, Bart, a Fleming, welcomes everyone. The cook is excellent and his products are correspondingly. Various types of beer, including Belgian, can be served. Hot news is that Bart will put shoarma sandwiches on the menu next month… Yes, complete with garlic sauce, curry sauce and tehina sauce (sesame seed sauce).

Visitors speak Dutch, English, French, German, Swedish, Norwegian and Thai. And everyone talks to everyone…sometimes a Babylonian confusion of tongues. It is curious that female acquaintances of the counterpart also often relax here, simply for the "pleasant" atmosphere, the excellent Thai food and, above all, the opportunity to be themselves.

The animators are anxiously kept out. Bart wants to present itself as a quiet, family-friendly establishment.

By the way, the croquettes are from Verboven.

Regards,

Hans Slob

Unfortunately, the street where the Tiki-Tiki is located has no name. Is in fact a private road of the Kosa hotel. But, the connecting road between Kosa hotel and Pullman hotel, Tiki-Tiki is located there. Most of Khon Kaen's nightlife is located on this road, so no problem I thought.

Here in Chiangmai we have been making croquettes, bitterballen and frikandellen for several years now
send these throughout Thailand. We do not import, because there are more than enough good ingredients for sale in Thailand. Take a look at our website
http://www.dutchsnacksthailand.com. We are a Thai Co. Ltd. with work permit.
    Regards Dirk.

I think it's great that in Khon kaen you can buy all those tasty things. My mouth is watering, but more than 500 km away there is a Dutchman who cannot do much with it. And answer to Dirk is also great. but sending croquettes, etc. from Chiangmai doesn't seem like a solution to me either. Maybe something for a restaurant. but
not for one person alone in pattaya. Maybe an idea for “our mother” in Jomtien. Sell frozen croquettes, bitterballen and frikandellen.
Be sure to visit often and many of my Dutch acquaintances too.

Dear Jordaan, I know that 99% of the Dutch - Belgian Restaurants sell croquettes, frikandellen, bitterballen. Our Mother for sure, see website! But also Holland Belgium House, Klein Vlaanderen, Tornado Bar, Malee etc etc. See also websites, all advertise with it.

Frikadel or frikandel? A frikadel is a meatball that is mainly eaten in Belgium. A frikandel can be found in Belgian snack bars as well as in Dutch snack bars; it is a fried sausage, made from minced meat. In Belgium, the frikandel is also called currywurst. Dick now knows everything about Frikandellen and Frikadellen (joking among us 😉). My girlfriend will be happy that close to her parental home, which is just outside Khonkaen, she can now also go for her frikandellen addiction. Now the herring (without onions), stroopwafeks, pickles and Dönner Kebab. 555

in Chiang Mai you can order Dutch/Belgian breads, cakes and yes also stroopwafels at the bakery. They also don't have sour bombs, just herring.

  6. Pascal Chiang Mai says up

Yes, the water runs out of your mouth with all these goodies, live in ChiangMai myself and if I'm hungry for one of these products, go to the restaurant called BENELUX, which is located on the night market down the street at Burger King, you can go there good food and not expensive, you can also order and bring it home, come once a week, my Thai girlfriend prefers to eat fish there, is not so fond of the snacks, but she likes croquette and frikandel especially, it is recommended,
    Regards, Pascal.

And in Chiang Mai at the Rimping you can also buy croquettes, frikandellen and cheese soufles…

  8. Henk B says up

Dear Thailand bloggers, does anyone know if there is also an address for Dutch snacks in Korat (just thinking about it already makes me hungry)

  9. BramSiam says up

For Dick and for the sake of completeness, I can also report that frikadel is also an Indian delicacy not to be sneezed at, so that those who despair don't have to go all the way to the Netherlands, but can also go to our former overseas territories.

I definitely want to check it out.
I found the Kosa hotel in Khon kaen in Google earth.
The KMZ file cannot be transferred in this text field
    But here are the coordinates
    16 ° 25'46.63 ″ N
    102°49'54.74″E
Make a flag somewhere in google earth and change the location to these values via Properties. Also enter the name.
Press OK and under “places” you will find the entered name, click on it and you will fly to it.
In this way, anyone who wants to can pass on their address to an accuracy of 10 meters via this medium.
    Greetings Jan

For everyone, far outside KK, of course an address in Khon Kaen is not much use.

It is already commendable that Dutch speakers, compatriots or Flemish people take the trouble to import or manufacture these things.

And above all, to take the risk of selling these frying items to private individuals.

I take advantage of it, a croquette is never gone, right?

And for Rob V, your stroopwafwel is also for sale in Tiki-Tiki.

And I myself am experimenting with sour bombs, sweet and sour.
If all goes well, they will be sold in plastic pots.

  12. rj says up

Is it just me , but I can not see the real address anywhere ; but coordinates of the Kosa-Hotel; is it near there? Kindly comment. Thanks .

    • HansNL says up

As previously reported, the street/soi where Tiki-Tiki is located is located on a private soi of the Kosa hotel.

When you are in Tiki-Tiki, you will see the Kosa hotel on your left.

To make it even easier, the neighbor is Tukcom Khon Kaen, the entrance cum exit of the Tukcom parking garage is across the street.\

There is a bit of a strange situation there, Kosa owns a lot of land there, and many properties are also owned and rented by Kosa.
That is why the name of the Soi is unknown, at least among the residents/tenants

The coordinates of Tiki-Tiki are (Google earth):
      16.25.47.53 N
      102.49.52.26 O

Why someone who has fled the Dutch and Flemish as soon as he has settled in Thailand then starts looking for fries, frikandellen, etc. a riddle to me. It is salted (unhealthy). It is fried in the tastiest fat there is (it is also the most unhealthy fat there is, I know from an expert Belgian), it is bursting with carbohydrates with a high glycemic index (is more fattening than, for example, oily fish). And then such a not-away-from-home expat also drinks Belgian or Dutch beer (which adds an intoxicating scoop to all of the above, which is already the plague). All very healthy for the IQ, the big belly, the blood sugar. Chases up the health insurance premium (I don't mind, because of all people who try to live healthy, the health insurance was thrown out).
What are many expats actually doing? Well, inform each other via the Thailand blog where you can continue your unhealthy eating and drinking habits most uninhibited in Thailand. Under the motto: eat somewhere else (in Thailand for example), but then the same as “at home”. Very useful such a blog.

That's how I feel about it, a Dutch / Belgian bite is not spent on me with all that tasty Thai food around me. Even when I'm in the Netherlands I eat Thai but..... something for everyone and can understand that not every farang can / wants to eat rice with all the tasty dishes every day and that's what the Dutch / Belgian bite is for ;)

    • Pim says up

      Dear Lee.
Don't spread stories that you don't understand and hearsay.
      Eg oily fish.
Because of the unsaturated fatty acids, it is very healthy to eat oily fish.
      Not fattening .
The fattier the fish, the better it is!

Betse mister Bart , we went to your restaurant yesterday and wanted to buy some things and take them with us , but the nice lady did not know what we were talking about . She said maybe in the freezer , but we couldn't get out of that . Can you tell me how it works . Incidentally, we come from about 60 km from Khon Kaen, but in the above section we ask you to contact you first. Just doesn't say how! At least I couldn't find that. So I would like more clarity on this as well. Thank you .
