Those who like to cook and want to try new dishes can visit the Essence of festival on 9 September Thailand In Brussels.

The annual Essence of Thailand festival is all about Thai cuisine this year. Well-known Belgian and Thai chefs give cooking demonstrations that day, they show their cooking techniques and use both Belgian and Thai ingredients. As a result, the influences from both countries come together harmoniously in the dishes.

Travel information, especially about 'green tourism' and gastronomy, is available to visitors at a stand of the Thai Agriculture Bureau and the Thai Tourist Board.

They can also taste two original dishes: 'Kai Oep', a signature dish of the local community of Pa Long, prepared by the chef of Doi Angkhang hotels in Chiangmai, and 'Yam Phakshee', a coriander salad, and a special dish from Ratchamankha hotel in Chiangmai.

The festival will take place on September 9 between 10am and 18pm at the Thai Embassy on Place Dumont in Brussels.

Yves Mattagne, owner of the Sea Grill restaurant in Brussels, which is considered the best and most refined fish restaurant in the Benelux.

Patrick Vandecasserie worked for 20 years in the kitchen of La Villa Lorraine, an institution of Brussels restaurants. Soon he will open his own restaurant De Mayeur in Ruisbroeck.

Sathit Srijettanont is chef of the Brussels restaurant Blue Elephant and chief partner of the Bleu Elephant group, a Belgian restaurant chain that is active in Europe as well as in the Near and Far East.

Furthermore, Giovanni Bruno from Ristorante Zenzanome in Schaerbeek and Chef Apple from the Thai restaurant Les Larmes du Tigre in Brussels will also be present.
