Eating in Isaan is a social event and the most important moment of the day. The family is squatting around the food on display and people usually eat with their hands.

Of course there are typical regional dishes on the menu such as Som Tam with palaa (fermented fish) and sticky rice.

Glutinous rice is steamed rice that is shaped into balls while eating. The rice has a slightly sweet taste. Som Tam is almost never missing. This salad consists of green papaya, tomato, shrimp, long beans, crushed peanuts, garlic and lots of red pepper.

Many herbs are used in the dishes from Isaan, such as coriander, red pepper and dill. Fermented fish (palaa) is a seasoning that has a strong smell and gives the dishes a salty taste.

Had to gray because of the preamble where eating is described as the most important time of the day, in my experience the people in the Isarn eat all day so there is apparently not much room for anything else? haha. Jan.

It is sometimes said that when their house is on fire and they are eating, they first continue to eat and only when the food is finished do they put out the fire.
I don't think it will be that bad.
However, with a telephone conversation, the first question is have you already eaten or what are you eating today.
