Koh Chang (Elephant Island) is an island located in the Gulf of Thailand. The island consists of 75% rainforest and is located in the province of Trat, about 300 kilometers east of Bangkok and not far from the Cambodian border.

On the island you will find steep hills, cliffs and waterfalls, including the Khlong Phlu, Khlong Nonsi and Khirphet. The island is part of a national park that includes 46 other islands, such as Koh Klum and Koh Rung.

Beautiful beaches

Tourism on Koh Chang is concentrated on the west coast. Some well-known beaches are:

  • White Sand Beach (Had Sai Khao)
  • Klong Prao Beach (Khad Khlong Prao)
  • Kia Bae Beach (Had Kai Bae)
  • Lonely Beach (Had Tha Nam)
  • Bai Lan Bay (Ao Bai Lan)

Despite the increase in tourists, Koh Chang is still an idyllic destination with beautiful beaches and clear sea water. In addition to its natural beauty, the island is also home to an array of wildlife, including native birds, snakes, deer and even some elephants.
