Visit Immigration Ubon Ratchathani city 25-02-2022. Extension NO-O retirement expired on 05-03-2022.

The required documents:

  • Passport Original + 1 Copy of all used pages.
  • Departure card Original + 1 Copy.
  • Bankbook 800.000 THB Fixed account Update on the day of renewal. The original passbook with an update made every three months after the previous renewal. (declared by Immigration). I withdraw a small amount every 90 days, but it was never asked for at the 90 day notification. 1 Copy of the name/number/account page. 1 copy from the beginning of the booklet (2013!!).
  • Bank statement Original of 800.000 THB account same day as renewal. No copy. (200 THB)
  • New: Statement of the bank statement of the last 6 months. So I went back to the bank. No copy. (and again 200 THB)
  • Bankbook other account To prove what I live on. Originally asked 3 years ago, then no more.
  • Passport photo 4*6 cm. 1 original.
  • Yellow booklet Original was not requested only 1 copy.
  • Blue house book Original was not requested (I'm not in it) only 1 copy.
  • ID card wife Original was requested + 1 Copy of front and back.
  • Form TM7 Was completed for me on the spot.

Why an original ID card + copy of my wife was requested is unclear to me because it is not a “marriage” but an extension of retirement.

At 08:30 am it was not busy at the bank but it still took about 1.5 hours to receive the bank documents.
Later I came back for the other document requested by Immigration. Another 45 minutes.

It was not busy the first time at 10am. I was there with my wife. A young lady who spoke good English checked the required documents (not the content), stamped them and had them signed by me. She did so quickly and efficiently. She clearly knew what she was doing. Nothing was missing. She also completed the TM 00 form for me.

She already gave the documents to a civil servant (except for the extra bank document to be delivered). When I handed over the new type of document to Immigration, it wasn't long before a photo was taken of me inside and some (which?) documents had to be signed. Cost extension stay 1.900 THB.

Just like last year, the responsible person who ultimately had to approve everything was not there. So you can come back later in the day to collect the passport. That way you keep busy. Final time frame (bank and Immigration) approximately 3,5 hours while the bank and Immigration was not busy and that is without another drive to Immigration for passport collection

– “Why an original ID card + copy of my wife was requested is unclear to me because it is not a “marriage” but a retirement extension.”

Possibly because she is the address responsible in the blue book.

– Bank receipts. The extract of the last 2 or 3 months must prove that the money is on it on time. I automatically receive a printout of the last 6 months without any questions. More than requested.

Fees at Bangkok Bank in Kanchanaburi are 100 Baht per receipt.

– 1 x as confirmation that the amount is on it

– 1 x with an overview of the last 6 months.

I think it took 5 minutes to print that out and have it signed by the person in charge.

But I wonder what the point of a fixed account is if you are going to withdraw an amount every 90 days?

Ronny wondered what the point of a fixed account is if you are going to withdraw an amount every 90 days?

The reason for a Fixed account is the following:

The Fixed account is only intended for the immigration obligation of at least 800.000 THB.
It might as well have been a savings account.

A Fixed account is only fixed in terms of interest.
Withdrawal or additional deposits are always possible.
In order to prove that there is a certain amount on it for the whole year, I must therefore, in my case, withdraw to have a registration.
A Fixed account gives a bit more interest than a checking account and that is really the only reason to let it be a Fixed account.

In addition, I split the fixed account of bank A from my savings account on bank B where my pension is deposited and used for daily use.
If I didn't do that split, I would be far above the guarantee of 1.000.000 THB per bank.
I don't take that risk, especially given the substantial warranty reduction from 5.000.000 to 1.000.000 THB.

The intention of a fixed account and that higher interest is that you will not take anything from it and leave the amount.
A Saving account also has a fixed interest rate, albeit lower, but that is precisely because you can work with that amount.

You can simply ask the bank for proof of your fixed account and then they will see what happened to that amount on your fixed account. So what is the point of taking or adding money every 90 days to prove something?
And as long as immigration doesn't ask for that proof, you shouldn't ask for that proof either.
Those who make the online report do not have to prove it.
Maybe the tip to do it online. https://www.immigration.go.th/en/#serviceonline

      Dear Wim,
what you write here is not entirely correct: if you withdraw money from a 'fixed account', the higher interest that you receive on a fixed account will lapse. Then you get just the same as with a saving account. And yes, if you are going to do transactions on a fixed account, you can just as well keep a saving account, then a fixed account is pointless.
To prove that there is a certain amount on it for a whole year, you don't have to do any transaction at all, you will receive a 'guarantee letter' from the bank and not even a 'statement'. I have been using this for many years, will know how it works.

Is he sure it's a 'FIXED' account? Normally NO transactions are done on a FIXED account, you don't even have a debit or credit card. A statement from the bank that the money from…. until….for an amount of…. untouched on the FIXED account is sufficient in this case. I think it's totally messy what he's describing here. First of all, if he goes for an extension, on a retired basis, he doesn't need his wife at all. All he needs is a TM30 with proof of residence and that, if he does not change his residence, is a one-off, on the first application. An official rental contract is requested and that is also very easy to obtain at Landoffice, even if the rent is fictitious.

It is indeed a Fixed account. that's how SCB calls the passbook as Fixed deposit passbook.
      Take a look at SCB's website: https://www.scb.co.th/content/dam/scb/personal-banking/rates-fees/deposits/deposit-en.pdf
The leftmost column Personal(1) and somewhere on page 2 titled Fixed Deposit Account Passbook / Fixed Deposit Account opening via SCB Easy Application or SCB Easy Net / Fixed Deposit Receipt
in the line 12 months the interest rate is stated (0.4) and that is exactly the interest rate stated in my bank book.

And as I wrote earlier in the notification I withdraw a small amount every 90 days.
This can only be done through the bank branch and not online.
The only thing that is fixed is the interest rate until the maturity date. There are restrictions if you withdraw before the expiry date, such as not receiving interest on the withdrawn amount within 90 days after the start date and some other restrictions in interest calculation when withdrawing later than 90 days after the start.

If you find what I'm describing in regards to my wife's ID card messy, I hope you think so of what immigration requires.
That was also my comment in my post. What does my spouse have to do with my NON-O Retirement extension?
Ronny already gave a possible reason.

If you think I am describing it in a messy way, it is really what immigration has asked for and received.

A few years ago I did not take my wife with me once and that was a problem in the same city. Also a NON-O extension.
She HAD to come and show her ID card even though I had a copy of her ID card and copy of the blue book. Weird but true, so she goes along again.

I will report something else that I did not mention in my report.
Ronny has already mentioned a dozen times that if you are not sure, you should consult the immigration office.
That is what my wife did with the question whether the statement from the bank, which has been customary for years, regarding my name, account number and amount of that day was sufficient.
I let her ask that question because I suspected that since the rule that there is always a minimum amount of money on it, something else or extra could be requested.
Response from Immigration: Yes, that will do.
So I was very surprised when I was told 2 days after the question that I also had to have a statement from the bank about the last six (6) months and could therefore return to the bank.
So incorrect information from immigration that bothers you.

But as long as I meet the required paperwork that immigration requires, I wouldn't mind getting an extension for another year.
I can find it weird sometimes but it's not about what I find weird but what immigration wants.
And that was the purpose of my report so that others in this city and surrounding area know what paperwork I have submitted for my NON-O Retirement extension.
