During my renewal of my annual visa in Ranong Non immigrant retirement, my application was rejected due to my letter of support from the Austrian consul. For the past 6 years, this income statement has always been accepted.

Since the Austrian consul helped me with income from several EU countries, that was an advantage. Was advised to request a letter of support from the Dutch embassy. I have asked why an Austrian statement can no longer be used, got no answer.

Now just make an application at the Dutch embassy, they will only issue a letter of support for the Dutch income. How I can get an income statement for my Belgian income is unclear? Understand that the Belgian embassy no longer does this.

The Belgian embassy still issues an Affidavit. It is still only legalization of a statement you make, ie still only legalization of your signature. In other words, it is not confirmed that the figures you state or submit have been checked with the Belgian authorities for accuracy. This is now also specifically stated.

You can therefore still request that Affidavit, but despite the fact that they state that it is not checked, you must also send proof of where those figures come from that you state on the Affidavit. So they actually do a small check themselves.

Just send an email to the embassy and you will receive the necessary information about what you need to deliver and what the cost is for returning it.

Consular email address (assistance to Belgians, population service,…):

There are now 2 things that require attention:

– I have the impression that you are not Belgian, but a Dutchman with an income from Belgium.

Or are you a Belgian with an income from the Netherlands?

It may now be that the Belgian embassy only wants to issue an Affidavit to Belgians and not to foreigners. Even if that foreigner has an income from Belgium.

It is best to inquire in advance if you are Dutch.

– Whether an Affidavit is accepted in Ranong is best to ask first, of course, because that is not the case everywhere.

    Dear Nico,
Last week I also went to Jomtiem for my extension retirement.
I had to provide an affidavit and a certificate from my Thai bank of 12 monthly deposits of minimum 65.000 baht/month.
They also asked for the extract from my Belgian bank on which they saw the 12 deposits from the pension fund.
    Greetings.

    Yes, things are going well at the immigration police, you can read that. I assume that the Austrian consul or the vise consul has also put in the beautiful sentence with this applicant that;

“upon request of above mentionend citizen and on basis of documents shown to the Consulat it is hereby certified that mr or mrs ….receiving a monthly pension …..”

With the documents shown attached and provided with a Consular seal from the consulate, this is no longer trusted.

If the Austrian consul has not done this, but has stated in writing, just like the Belgian Embassy, that it is not certain as far as they are concerned, then asking for additional information, which it does demonstrate, is explicable and acceptable.

We may have something to look forward to if this continues.
At my last application, the bank documents were not accepted, even though this is the legal and convincing proof that the money is coming into Thailand and as such shows what needs to be proven. Cannot be used as a Dutch person, unless you invoke the 800.000 baht scheme and/or the combi scheme. Or can the Thai bank no longer be trusted? It comes across to me as completely crazy and full of suspicion and whatever else is going on, but people will not say, under the guise of what are you proposing in our country. This is Thailand were the winged words I received and go to the Consul Mr. Hofer, Hofer. The latter is apparently no longer useful to some and the Consul has fallen out. I think the last will not be written about this. The advantage is that many of us are becoming quite a file tiger these days.

I cannot escape the impression that the consul's signature was no guarantee that the expat actually met Thailand's financial requirements.

If that is correct, it is right for Thailand to introduce new requirements for the extension of the visa.

This may have major consequences for a number of expats.
