It now seems that immigration will allow an extension of the period of stay of 30 days each time. For now I only have the link to ThaiVisa. There you can read or download the relevant document: forum.thaivisa.com/

In brief

The extension of the period of stay can be obtained under the following circumstances.

  1.  If you have obtained a period of stay with a “Tourist visa” or “Visa exemption”.
  2. If you have obtained a period of residence with a “Non-immigrant visa” and if you can submit a letter from the embassy.
  3. If a person does not comply with point 1 or 2, an authorized immigration officer may decide to grant an extension if he considers that an extension of the stay is necessary.

This means that everyone can obtain an extension of 30 days until he/she has the opportunity to leave.

Normally the following documents should suffice

– TM7 – Completed and signed

- Passport photograph

– 1900 Baht

- Passport

– Copy of passport page personal details

– Copy of passport page visa (possibly)

– Copy of passport page, any previous renewal

– Copy passport page Arrival stamp

– Copy TM6

– Address and any proof of TM30 report

– It is of course also possible that they want to see proof that you cannot/could not depart, such as proof of your previous flight, or that it was canceled and/or when the next opportunity is to depart. That in turn will depend on the immigration office involved. But it may also be best not to ask, of course. I'll just give it "just in case" and if you have such proof, you might want to take it with you.

Of course, the above only applies during the Corona period and therefore temporarily so that no one would unintentionally end up in "overstay".

I think it also goes without saying that the "normal" extensions still apply, such as a year extension, 60 days in case of a visit from a woman/child, those who work here, etc...

Perhaps something I would like to draw attention to is the 90-day notice. I don't know how immigration will handle it in this case.

Immigration law says that if you stay in Thailand for more than 90 days without interruption, you are required to make a 90-day report. I don't know now whether immigration will strictly enforce this, or whether they will regard that 30-day extension as a 90-day report. Maybe it's best to keep that in mind.

Good luck and stay healthy.

    Hi Ronnie,
Went to the immigration office in Pattaya this morning
    Very busy.
The second period of my Non-O year visa expires on April 1. I submitted a late notification until 30 PM and asked what the options were to extend my stay period. Asked both a counter employee and a manager. The answer was: 1 time 30 days with a letter from the Embassy stating that I cannot travel back. Or a one-off 7 days and then leave. I think I'll leave as soon as possible.
    Kind regards, Dik Lenten.

Dear Dik, How long did you have to wait? I passed by and was shocked to see how many people were packed together outside waiting under a tent (not 1,5 m but 15 cm). Just checked, and it seemed to go very slow

Just a comment , when I was sitting in the waiting room of the adjacent consultancy firm for a while , I told an employee of my problems . He said he could arrange a visa for me.
    I month 22000 bath , 2 months 27000 bath and 3 months for 35000 bath .
I just didn't go into it.

    Mvg Dik.

They have the option to give everyone 30 day extensions at a time. Fine, then charge the normally 1900 Baht per time. Nothing wrong with that in that respect.

All legal and according to existing regulations. These three options in the memorandum are not new. They have been around for years. However, it had to be added that more than one extension may be allowed and that the reason is the Corona situation.
The only thing one (immigration) has to do is muster the necessary goodwill to read the note positively in favor of the applicant. And everyone would be helped. Even a letter of support in itself is not necessary. But yeah,…..

The problem is that one must be able and/or willing to understand the regulations, without first immediately thinking how one can put one's own name under it to impress, or look for a way to make money out of it. Because that is what will ultimately be the intention of certain figures, in collaboration with the already existing rogue visa offices…

Is there anything known about the measures taken by the Thai Immigration Chaeng Wattena regarding the virus
Every day, hundreds of people of various nationalities are crowded together to gain access to certain departments

    • RonnyLatYa says up

The measures on that note apply throughout Thailand and must be applied in all immigration offices.
At least they are supposed to do that…
