A new control measure has been introduced when applying for a “Thai marriage” year extension at Immigration Bangkok (Chaeng Wattana).

When applying for a year extension on the basis of "Thai marriage", one can prove the financial requirements with, among other things, a bank amount of 400 Baht. This amount must then officially be in the bank account for 000 months (play it safe and take three months if possible) on the day of application. One will then usually first obtain an “Under consideration stamp” of 2 days. This gives immigration time to make the necessary investigations. After 30 days, and if there are no problems, the final annual extension is obtained. So much for the normal course of events.

The new rule is now that when collecting your final year extension, an update of the bank book must also be shown, which shows that the amount of 400 Baht is still on it.

It is not a rule that is prescribed somewhere in a regulation, but a local measure. Such a measure may also apply in other offices, or may be introduced.

Lung Addie already confirmed that it has also been applicable at Immigration Chumphon for a long time.

So inform yourself in good time at your local immigration office in order not to be faced with surprises when collecting your stamp.

      Short. This is about “Thai marriage” and with “Thai Marriage” no combination is possible.
      It is an additional control measure for a bank amount of 400 Baht. With an “Under consideration stamp” you must demonstrate that after those 000 days “Under consideration” the 30 Baht is still on the account.

        – Or an income of at least 40 000 Baht (proof with a visa support letter)
        – Or a bank amount of at least 400 Baht (Bank letter and up-to-date bank book)
        It therefore refers to the latter.

        That has been the case for years and there has never been the possibility of a combination method in a “Thai Marriage”.

        This has only been added since January 1, 2019
        – or a deposit from abroad of at least 40 Baht monthly into a Thai account, but it increasingly appears that this method is only available to persons for whom the Embassy no longer wants to issue proof of income.

      Whether or not a “Visa Support Letter” needs to be legalized is a local decision.
      No national regulation from head office. So ask your local immigration office.

      And I don't see what "protesting you in Bangkok" will change this

      It is just 250 km from Chanthaburi to Bangkok. Is that far? I have to extend my visa in June and although I can also do it by post, I go to Bangkok by bus or minivan, stay there overnight and drive home the next day in the evening. Am I out...
      I live just south of Hua Hin, which is half an hour less drive, but not a world trip either.

    because of affidavit it is the date of issue so for me in December (if the euro was at 36,5 now barely at 35 bath), or the date that one does the extension that counts for immigration, it can be a big difference!!
    example 1800 euro x36.5 is 65700 Bath and 35 is 63000 so I will have to use the combination in case of date extension, and if date of embassy stamp is not. I can't find an answer so far.

      An Affidavit is normally valid for 6 months, but many immigration offices require it to be valid for a maximum of 1 month. Just for that reason.

      Immigration will look at the date and determine that you did meet the requirements at that time, but now, on the day of application, you may not.
      You will probably have to use a different method (combination).
      Or maybe you will be lucky and they will accept the day of legalization of your statement.
      Unpredictable. Is a local decision..

      Maybe also go there prepared with the combination method and play it safe.

    My Mariage extension agreement, now for the 4th time, collected on January 18, 2019 in Sakon Nakhon. Until then I didn't have to do anything but hand over my passport and got it back half an hour later with a new 90 day notice.

        This information letter is about the fact that certain immi offices are asked to provide a new piece of evidence (of the bank balance) when collecting a Thai marriage year extension (if I may put it that way).       Financially it is the same as a “Thai Marriage”

      – In the case of parents, the father or mother must maintain an average annual income of no less than Baht 40,000 per month throughout the year or must have deposited funds of no less than Baht 400,000 to cover expenses for one year. 
      In case the father of mother requests to be under maintenance of children, the age of father or mother must be 50 years of age or over. 

      It is best to ask at the immigration office to be sure.
