Laughter at the dentist

Asia has been high on my travel program for 25 years and Bangkok often functions as a hub for this part of the world. After a long flight of 11 hours, the capital of Thailand is a wonderful place to acclimatize and continue the journey a few days later. Sometimes within Thailand but very often also to other Asian countries.

Years ago I ended up with a dentist in Pattaya on Central Road. Because the dentist in question in the United States had enriched his knowledge of implants, we were able to communicate excellently together in the English language. In short; I still visit him every year for a simple check or some repair work. He is also fond of traveling and idolizes Paris.

Before returning home last month, I made an appointment for a check-up. While he was looking at my treatment loyalty card I asked him how long ago I had visited him for the first time. It was a bit of a shock: almost twenty years ago. “We have both aged 20 years but nothing has changed in those years” I said laughing. Then he asked how young I was. I sometimes joke with ladies, but I spoke the truth to my dentist: almost 85.

The good man would not believe me and asked how I managed to look so vital and young. Was able to reassure him with my answer that I still have a very young girlfriend. “A Thai girlfriend?” he asked. “No, just a good looking young Dutch person of only 82 years old.” Warin -his first name- was no longer having it and couldn't help laughing. His two assistants didn't understand it at all and stood there stoically watching.

After he had recovered he told the story in Thai to both ladies, still spluttering with laughter. Thought those two were having a stroke.

    Yes Josef,
I also keep smiling at the dentist here in Chiangmai. I met her 4 years ago when my temporary crown fell out of my mouth.
An original was so cheap that I immediately ordered it. Temporarily an emergency crown, but when placing the new one, the emergency crown had to be drilled out. So this lady deserves my recommendation!
Of course I had to 'tell' my own dentist in Tilburg that this lady works 6 days a week from 8 am to 20 pm, hahaaaa.
Now I'm back because once again a 'Dutch' crown had fallen out. But too little time for an implant, but decided for an original bridge. Ready in 2 weeks and will be installed in 3 days. Costs Th Bth 27000,- in the Netherlands I lost about € 1100,-.
    So yes, I keep smiling

    Dear Joseph Boy,

    Top story.
I like to go to the Dentist in Thailand (if I have the time).
My front tooth has broken off, but in the Netherlands at the time the dentist wanted to pull my tooth.
    I didn't.

I went to the dentist in Thailand and asked if this was still possible to repair.
Yes' but at your own risk and no guarantee!
This repair lasted five years, now broken again after biting into an apple (555).
No, not in the Netherlands anymore, and the price ..700 Bath.

This is how high quality works in Thailand where the profession is higher than money.

    Good story,
    Yours faithfully,

    Erwin
